Thank you for a GREAT first week of School!
We enjoyed welcoming all our Caring Comets this week! Our students had many great stories about their summer vacations and their hopes for the new school year. Our teachers and staff focused on making each child feel welcome in their new classrooms while carefully teaching the routines and procedures.
REMINDERS
Parent Portal Set Up
Parents, please be sure to set up your information for the Parent Portal and complete all electronic forms no later than Friday, September 16th. You will receive a daily email reminder through September 16th. Thank you.
WATCH D.O.G.S.- We're back!!!!! All Dads interested in joining our Watch D.O.G. program, please join us for Pizza Night on September 28th @ 6pm in the cafeteria. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon!
Attendance Reminders
When your child is absent, we must receive communication within three days of the absence for it to be recorded as "excused." Absences that are not substantiated by a note or phone call to the office within three days of the absence will remain "unexcused."
- At 5 unexcused absences, you will be contacted to develop an attendance plan to resolve attendance concerns
- At 7 unexcused absences, an attendance conference will be held to discuss continued attendance concerns
- If attendance does not improve, a referral may be made to School Social Work Services for additional support
Tardy Students:
Parents, please remember that if your child is late (after 8:00 a.m.) you will need to come into the office to sign them in on the designated form. Your child will receive a tardy pass which they will give to their teacher upon arrival to class.
Afternoon Parent Pick-up:
Thank you for your patience this week as we have been working through our preliminary procedures to ensure the safe dismissal of each student. If you will be picking your child up daily, you will soon be receiving a card that you or the authorized designee will present each day to assist us with moving the line quicker.

SPIRIT NIGHT: Save the date our first spirit night is at Ashland Panera, Tuesday September 13 (use code FUND4U for online checkout).
FUNDRAISERS: We have two current fundraisers going on:
Charleston Wrap. Register at www.registercw.com (organization ID 24799) and shop for home goods, gourmet items and more! Delivery is fast.
The PTA is also collecting gently used shoes of all types (adults, kids, cleats, ballet shoes, etc). Bins are located at KCES entrance and Milestone clubhouse. Collection is taking place through 11/5.
Chrysanthemum sale. We are hoping to sell Mums on Friday, Sept 23 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Small Mums for $7.50 and Large for $9. Stay tuned for more details.
