We are proud to announce that Coleman MS has been selected as a finalist to the Saint-Gobain Sustaining Futures, Raising Communities Grant Finalist! This $10,000 grant will help us buy the latest robot models for our Robotics, Engineering, and Computer Science Programs.
To select the winner of this grant, communities have to vote! Please mark your calendars, and share with others in our community.
Voting will begin next Tuesday, October 4th on this LINK.

Greetings,
The students, faculty and staff of Coleman Middle School are so excited to be able to host our first community showcase of the 2022-2023 school year! We believe input from our stakeholders is an integral part of "The Coleman Experience" for our students. We will host a showcase for each grade level on the dates and times below. We hope you will be able to attend and provide feedback to the students and their projects. I have included the grade level driving question along with locations. Please feel free to invite any of your colleagues, family, and friends. I will be hosting a "First Time Attending a Showcase" session prior to the 6th grade showcase in the media center. This session will be useful if you have not attended a showcase before or if you would like to know how to give meaningful feedback to students.

MESSAGE FROM OUR WONDERFUL PTA!
PTA Fall Fundraiser:
That's a wrap! Our PTA Fall Fundraiser is complete! We finished collecting money yesterday for our teachers to request grants for technology and instructional supplies for their classrooms or clubs. Thank you to all of our parents, students, teachers, staff, and community members who donated, no matter how big or small. Your efforts are noticed and greatly appreciated! Weekly raffle winners were announced yesterday morning after money collections. This week's raffle winners are Maija Bailey and Tomokii Weaver who won Dreamland BBQ $25 Gift Cards! Congrats to Maija and Tomokii! The PTA also determined the classes in each grade level who earned ice cream parties based on the highest level of participation. The following classes won the ice cream parties: Mrs. Clement's 6th Grade Homeroom Class, Mrs. Winkeljohn's 7th Grade Homeroom Class, and Mrs. Rossi's 8th Grade Homeroom Class. We also determined the teachers in each grade level who earned the opportunity to wear jeans for the week based on leading classes who donated the most money towards the Fundraiser. The following teachers won jeans for the week: Mrs. Clement in 6th grade, Dr. Searcy in 7th Grade, and Mrs. Rossi in 8th Grade. Congratulations to all of our winning classes and teachers! You all went the "extra mile" in supporting our school! Students will benefit from these technology and instructional supplies all year!
PTA Booth at the Duluth Fall Festival Parade:
Thank you for coming out to support us at the Duluth Fall Festival Parade by purchasing coffee, water bottles, donuts, and hoodies. It was a beautiful morning to gather as a community to get to know new Coleman Families and reconnect with familiar ones! Your donations are greatly appreciated!
Calling Parent Volunteers to Serve in the Coleman Media Center:
Our Coleman Media Center Specialist, Shelley Winkler, would like parent or grandparent volunteers on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help with reshelving books, checking in and checking out books, and helping with tasks, such as bulletin boards, book cataloging, book weeding, and laminating. Basketball tryouts will be the week of October 10th, immediately after Fall Break. Students should have their basketball packets submitted by the 6th of October. It will be on Tuesday-Friday for boys and girls. Girls will tryout each day from 4:30-5:30pm. Boys will try out from 5:30-6:30 each day. Students will go home with a letter welcoming them to the team or thanking them for trying out.
SCIENCE ATL AMBASSADORS LAUNCH! COME JOIN THE TEAM!
Now it's time to gather our team and bring the event series to life!

October 1 | Run or Volunteer with Girls on the Run at The Race
Bring your GOTR spirit and run The Race half marathon or 5K. Every registration raises dollars for the Charitable Impact Fund, which has benefitted our GOTR girls for many years. Be sure to join the Girls on the Run team when you register. Not interested in running? Consider volunteering at the GOTR water stop from 7:30 – 9:30 am and help cheer on The Race participants.
December 3 – Girls on the Run 5K
Girls on the Run 5K registration for Running Buddies and community participants will open later this month, and stay tuned for an announcement on the new 5K location!
MIDDLE SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST OPPORTUNITY:
The 21st annual Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Middle School Essay Contest is now open. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders in Bartow, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties are invited to participate in the annual essay contest. The School Nutrition Program will now transition to pre-pandemic operations. Meals are no longer available at no charge to all students.

- Parents please be advised that during morning drop off and dismissal, Coleman Middle School will provide student supervision while students are on school property only.
- No students should be dropped off and/or picked up on any of the immediate streets surrounding Coleman.
- Riding with parents or the bus ensures a safe and secure arrival and dismissal for students at Coleman Middle each day.
- We do not provide supervision once students are off campus.
