Rising Freshman Orientation
The Rising Freshman Orientation Nights have been scheduled for current 8th-grade students as they plan their high school program of study. This folder includes graphics and flyers that can be used in your SMOREs or shared as needed with students and families. Rising Freshman Orientation Nights will be in person at each high school, beginning at 6 PM on the following days:
March 6, 2023: Leonardtown High School
March 7, 2023: Chopticon High School
March 8, 2023: Great Mills High School
Social Media
Parents, please be vigilant about your students' online/social media activities. We are seeing a number of incidents in school that are stemming from online/social media activities that spill into the school from outside activities. Please talk with your child about safe online practices and remind them to "Report it - Don't repeat it."
SMCPS Academy Application Info
Academy applications will open on Wednesday, March 29th, and close on Friday, May 5th. All students interested in applying for STEM 7, STEM 8, or high school academies will need to submit an online application within the application window. Late applications will not be accepted.
On Wednesday, March 29th, SMCPS academies will hold a Virtual Open House. Students interested in attending an academy program in SMCPS are welcome to attend in order to learn more from program teachers and students. More information to come.
Student Accountability - Technology and Print resources
Students are responsible for the care and upkeep of their laptops, chargers, and school-issued textbooks and novels. Please see this NEWSLETTER in regard to all accountability of print resources and technology.
Please note: Fines are assessed for any damage, loss or repair on our school-issued devices. When a student is assessed a fine, the fine is populated in My School Bucks. Cafeteria funds cannot be used to pay for school invoice fines. Please do not add money to a food/cafeteria account as it cannot be applied to school invoices.
