Levelland ISD's
September 5th, 2023
Hello Lobos,
This is a short week that should be filled with fun Homecoming activities. This time of the year makes me think of the following quote by Martha Graham. "Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance."
I hope you enjoy this week, the students certainly will.
Go Lobos!

Around LISD......
LHS Open House!
LHS hosted their Open House Monday night and had a great crowd of interested parents! We thank everyone that was able to make it out! Thanks to the BBQ Team, Mr. Burton, & Mrs. Oaks for the delicious hotdogs!
Trash to Treasure!
Who messes around with trash? Our LHS Theater Department does! An element of theater is designing costumes and Miss Ashley Peikart's students completed their Trash to Treasure Costumes last week. They held a fashion show for several classes. What a great introduction to the importance of costuming for characters in the theater world!
Let's Get Messy!
Did you know that South Elementary offers an art class? We are so excited to share that South #ExpectsExcellence and gives this art experience to students. It can be an outlet to express themselves, as well as a bridge of potential therapy to a long day! This is exciting!
Going Hunting..........
4th-Grade students in Mrs. Clara Sanders' science classes were caught on a hunt looking for animal prints all around Capitol. They had to measure the length & the width of each animal's footprint, as well as define the other contributing characteristics of the species. Mrs. Sanders, we love these hands-on science lessons!
National Toasted Marshmallow Day
Do you know the history of marshmallows? LHS students in Mrs. Kristy Scoggins' & Callie Wheeler's History class studied marshmallows in honor of National Toasted Marshmallow Day yesterday. They studied marshmallows during History because they are learning about eras of history. Marshmallows were created in ancient Egypt (ancient history era) but were changed in modern history by using corn starch instead of sap from roots. Now you know!
Safe & Secure!
Everyone is so happy that our Littles at ABC are safe & secure! The fence is complete! When speaking with the ABC Educators they are loving their teaching situation and all is well! We send out a big thank you to our LISD Maintenance Team for #ExpectingExcellence & getting everything done as quickly as possible!
Facelift!
Don't you always want to look better? Well, LMS #ExpectsExcellence & did just that! They got a facelift with beautiful new doors that brighten up campus! LMS is an amazing place to learn that welcomes kids every day! What a fun place to enter into a great place to learn!
LMS Educators Honored!
LMS #ExpectsExcellence and honored staff with the most student submissions for showing attitude, effort, and action above and beyond our expectations this week! They hooked these educators up with a jeans pass and a paid lunch for reaching out to parents about some amazing kids! Thank you!
SPORTS
Tennis!
LHS Coaches Jeffrey Braziel & Chad Lawson share that Varsity traveled to Seminole for a flighted team tournament (this means they play several brackets depending on the players team ranking). They played singles on Friday and doubles on Saturday & placed 4th as a team. These athletes also opened up their district play against the Lamesa Golden Tornadoes. They came away with a 13-6 victory. Some notable matches they had included our 2 line girls singles were after losing the first set came back & grabbed the victory in a super tiebreaker. Coach Braziel says, "As coaches we could not be more proud of how our players played. Let’s go pack!" JV update: JV moves to 2-0 on the year with another big win over Snyder 17-8.
