Indian Hills Resources to Plan for 2024-25

Over the next several weeks, your sixth grade student will start to learn about Indian Hills Junior High and register for classes for their seventh grade year in West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS). As we begin this process, we want parents to have access to Indian Hills' information and a timeline of what to expect. Below are resources that will be helpful in the seventh-grade registration process.

Please Note

If your child will be going to Stilwell next year, they can still register with their elementary school as all of our junior high registration information filters together for both junior high schools. If you do not live in the boundaries of the elementary school that your child attends, and you are unsure what junior high they will be enrolled in, please reach out to our district registrar, Joy Zuber, at 515-633-5101. If your family will be moving out of the district and your student will no longer be attending West Des Moines Community Schools, please contact the district registrar.

DATES TO REMEMBER

Week of Jan. 29

Teachers will send sample registration forms home with students. At this time, students and parents should start to decide what classes they want to register for as a seventh grader at Indian Hills.

Feb. 6 and 8

Sixth grade students will visit Indian Hills to hear a presentation and tour the school. They will leave their school at approximately 9:05 a.m. and return at approximately 10:45 a.m.

Feb. 6: Crestview and Clive visit Indian Hills
Feb. 8: Crossroads and Westridge visit Indian Hills

Feb. 12-15
Students will meet with the seventh grade counselor to sign up for classes during their sixth grade homeroom time as part of their school day. Registration will be done through Canvas and a Google Form.

Students may use the sample form that has been filled out with their parents to help guide them in the sign-up process. Parents can view student elective selections and make changes, if necessary, after the initial registration time using the Google Form. All students will receive an email showing their choices if parents would like to view them.

Feb. 23
This is the final date to make any changes to your student registration form via Canvas.
