Learning About Life Cycles
Thanks to Mrs. Hajbi, Ms. Tonti’s first graders at Charles Olbon School studied the life cycle of the butterfly. These first graders watched intently as the caterpillars transformed into beautiful monarch butterflies. The children were very excited to set these butterflies into their natural habitat. The students even took part in helping two butterflies that needed extra support navigating through their new journey. The class watched on as these beautiful creatures flew freely through the skies.
Ms. DiBona's third grade class at Beatrice Gilmore School culminated their science unit by studying the real life cycle of butterflies. They watched the little caterpillars grow to 10 times their original size, change into jewel-like chrysalides, and finally, emerge as painted lady butterflies! Last week, the students set their butterflies free and spent some time reading their favorite books and enjoying the beautiful weather.
