Honoring our Veterans
Yesterday was Veterans Day. Across our great nation, we paused to honor the many men and women who serve or have served our country through the years. We appreciate their commitment and sacrifice as they served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard. As our day began, I reminded our students about the importance of honoring our veterans and recognizing their service. We also observed a moment of silence before starting our day.
Our social studies teachers took some time sharing information about Veterans Day and the importance of honoring our Veterans and those who currently serve in the military. We converted our front hallway to a “Hall of Honor” with posters of the veterans our Wredling families submitted. Our Builder’s Club added American flags throughout the foyer. Students were given the opportunity to see photos of Veterans and those currently serving in the military from our Wredling community. We requested those who came down to please be silent and respectful as they reflected on our Veterans recognized in the Hall of Honor.
If your family gets a moment this weekend, take a little time to honor and remember those brave Veterans who have served and those currently serving in one of our armed forces. Their dedicated service has provided protection for our citizens, our nation, and our world.
Enjoy your weekend!

WMS Knife Incident- ParentLink Message 10-28-21
Dear WMS Parents and Guardians-
The message below was sent on 10/28/21. After a communication with a parent this week, I realize that this email did not go out to all of the groups who I intended to receive it. My goal is to always be transparent about incidents that happen here at WMS. I apologize for my error in not checking that all of our groups received the message.
Here is the message from 10-28-21:
Today at Wredling we had an incident where a student brought a small paring knife to school and showed it to other students who then alerted administration. There were no threats associated with the incident and students were not in jeopardy. We immediately contacted our St. Charles Police School Resource Officer who assisted us in our investigation, helped us secure the utensil, and manage the incident. We are fortunate to have him as part of the Wredling team. The speed at which the students notified us enabled the adults in the school to respond quickly and appropriately.
As always, we take these incidents very seriously as our first priority at Wredling is student safety. Please know that I understand your concerns, but due to student confidentiality, I am not able to share specifics about the incident, the student, or any possible consequences.
Thank you-
Tim Loversky, Principal
E-Learning Plan and Emergency Days
The School Board has approved an E-Learning plan that gives the district the option to offer remote learning in place of emergency days. Currently, our last day of school is Tuesday, May 24, which is the week before Memorial Day. As we move into the winter months, we want to update you on the plan for how the district will manage emergency days and e-learning days.
If we experience inclement weather, the first three days will be “snow days” that will be made up at the end of the school year on May 25, 26, and 27 as needed.
Subsequent emergency days will be remote days so the last attendance day will still be before Memorial Day.
If there is a long stretch of inclement weather (blizzard, polar vortex, etc.), we may split the days into “snow days” and e-learning days so as to not have too many non-attendance days in a row.
Vision/Hearing Screenings
Vision and hearing screenings are provided annually to Wredling Middle School students at the State-mandated grade levels, as designated by the Illinois Department of Public Health. All 8th-grade students are eligible for vision screening which will commence on November 15th, 2021. All students who are in Special Education Programs or are new students to Illinois Schools (6, 7, or 8th grade) are screened for both vision and hearing during the school year. If your child has a current vision or hearing exam conducted by their healthcare provider you may provide the WMS health office with a copy of that exam in lieu of the screening(s).
Vision and hearing screenings will be conducted by the nurses or vision screeners in district 303 who are certified by the state of Illinois. Vision/hearing screening provided in the school setting is not a substitute for a complete evaluation by an eye or hearing doctor. Please contact the nurse’s office at WMS if you have any questions or concerns regarding the screening processes

Support for Your Child if they are Quarantined:
If your child is quarantined due to Covid, our teachers will send work to your child and work with you and your child as we always have when a child is out of school. We want to recognize that quarantine offers some unique challenges for our students.
We will be offering instructional support through a certified teacher during quarantine. Ann Rose, a recently retired D303 teacher, will be available to support our quarantine students through Zoom. When a child begins quarantine, we will email both the child and the parent with information on how to access Mrs. Rose's Zoom for support. We encourage our quarantined students to access this instructional support!
