Walnut Street Wildcat Newsletter
Wildcat Weekly!
Dear Wildcats,
The Holiday Event was a smashing success on Friday! We thank the tireless efforts of our PTO and Mr. Hudson who organized and led the event. We also that the many teacher volunteers who worked the event on behalf of our school community!
We held our Winter Chorus Concert on Wednesday and our students were incredible! Each and every song they performed was better than the next. Congratulations to our amazing students and kudos to Mrs. Heather Coe for once again putting on an exceptional show.
Congratulations to Mrs. Adams' 5th grade class for winning the winter door decoration competition. Check out the winning door below....
This week we were visited by the talented members of the Toms River Intermediate North's Orchestra and Chorus. It was an incredible visit! They performed several holiday numbers that really put us in the spirit of the season.
Our school and district attendance data continue to improve in big ways! As a school, our daily average attendance through November was a whopping 94.68%! Last year, through December, our school was at 90.94%. Words cannot express how significant this improvement is! Our 5th grade class leads the way with a 95.45% daily attendance rate. Let's 'Strive for 95' where all grade levels through January and February will have a 95% daily attendance rate! Our goal as a school is always 100%. See below for some of our attendance initiative winners last week.
Last week I mentioned drop off times at the back of the school in the beginning of the school day. Please arrive early. We are beginning to send late cars in the drop off line to the front of the school for parents to physically sign late arriving students into school. We appreciate your consideration.
When we return from winter break, we will continue our year long review of behavioral expectations. We will be holding grade level assemblies that continue to support our safe, responsible, and respectful school by focusing on lunch, recess, and bus expectations.
As always, check out some of our PBSIS winners this week...recognized for being responsible, respectful and safe. Staff PBSIS winners were Mrs. Anello and Mrs. Therien!
On behalf of the entire staff of Walnut Street Elementary School, we sincerely thank you for your generosity during this holiday season. Please enjoy your Winter Break and we will see you next year!

Donors
This week Walnut Street Elementary received an incredible donation from the Reynolds family in honor of their mother Margaret Reynolds. For years, Mrs. Reynolds was a Dover Township crossing guard who dutifully served our community. She recently passed away. Mr. William Reynolds presented us with a donation of $1,000 in their mother's name that will go to Walnut Street Elementary School families in need. All of us at Walnut Street Elementary thank you.
