CMS Robotics Team Looking for New Members!
The Cohasset Middle School Robotics Team is looking for new members to design, build and compete in the First Lego League Robotics competition this fall.
Students need to be either a Cohasset Public School student or Cohasset resident and in the 6th-8th grade. We meet after school in the middle school Monday through Thursday. If you are interested, please have your student stop by either Mrs. St Peter (gstpeter@cohassetk12.org) or Mr. Erlandsen's (rerlandsen@cohassetk12.org) classroom or email either coach for more information. There is limited space so hope to see you there!
Dismissal Plan: No Child Left Behind
I sometimes hear people say "I wish I could be a child again--completely free from stress and worry". As an educator who works around kids everyday, I encourage these people to be careful about what they wish.
In our meetings with teachers over the summer, many described how worried students get at the end of the day about their buses leaving without them. To support our kids and reduce the stress experienced at school, we have instituted a practice to prevent students from missing their buses.
At dismissal one administrator sweeps the halls to ensure there are no more middle school students for the buses after dismissal . Once this is established that administrator radios out to the other who is standing with the first bus in line. Once the all clear has been relayed the buses are allowed to leave.
In order to allay student worries, we explained this to the student body via the morning announcements and in the cafeteria during break. Our hope is that our students enjoy each minute in school and are invigorated by each challenge and the growth overcoming them inspire.
