This month we’re talking about Honesty! The dictionary defines it as: “fairness and straightforwardness of conduct; adherence to the facts.” The definition we are using at school is:

Honesty: living truthfully in your words and actions and thoughts!

Honesty is a lot more than just telling the truth – it is also about thinking and acting in a way that feels consistent, kind, and sincere. What do we do with honest thoughts that aren’t very nice? How do our actions in Honesty help or hurt our relationships. This month I have had the pleasure of visiting classrooms to read a book called “A Bike Like Sergio’s”. This is a great story about a boy learning about honesty in a tough situation.

It's hard to believe that SBA testing is around the corner. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be participating in this. Please refer to the calendar below and please try to schedule appointments around these dates.

Please try to refrain from scheduling appointments that cause late arrivals, early departures, or absences on these days. Due to testing, groups are canceled to allow staff to work with students needing testing accommodations.

Making up tests due to these schedule changes can be difficult due to staffing challenges.

Letters are going home in a few weeks where we ask that parents write an encouraging note and send back in the provided envelope. Though it is a small gesture, it is very much appreciated by students when they come to school the first day of testing to ease any testing jitters.

Do you know a child who will be five years old on or before August 31? Maybe it's your neighbor, friend or even your own child. Now’s the right time to enroll next year’s kindergarten students. The sooner you enroll, the better we can keep you informed and get prepared for your child to join us. • There has a close contact with anyone confirmed to have, or suspected to have COVID-19
• The Student has tested positive for, or is waiting on a test for COVID-19
• The student has been told to self isolate or quarantine by public health or a medical professional
• Any of these symptoms are present:

• Fever of 100.4 or higher

• Cough- frequent and persistent

• Loss of taste or smell

• Shortness of breath

• Fatigue

• Headache

• Muscle or body aches

• Sore throat

• Congestion or runny nose

• Nausea, diarrhea or vomiting
