The Piedmont Unified School District is excited to announce Marguerite Vanden Wyngaard, Ph.D., as its new Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. With over 18 years of progressive leadership experience in education, Dr. Vanden Wyngaard will lead PUSD’s effort to implement its goals and actions in regards to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the entire District. The music and dance programs from Piedmont High School and Middle School provided a great week of music for friends and family at a series of Winter Concerts December 3rd-9th. Watch video selections from each concert.

Thank you to all who donated nearly 400 books to Piedmont High School Library in conjunction with last week's Turkey Trot. Thanks to the City of Piedmont, Piedmont Education Foundation, Friends of Piedmont HS Library & Piedmont Community Service Crew for their help coordinating Book Drives!

A pair of recent Eagle Scout projects, led by Piedmont High School students, are benefitting Havens Elementary School. Daniel Bannin coordinated a mask drive among Havens' classes, awarding ice cream and a bookmark crafts project to the class collecting the most masks. Thank you to fellow Highlanders John Champion and Matteo Scanu for their help with the project. In addition, great work by Nathan Fredericks who for his Eagle Scout project, turned a strip of dirt and weeds into an amazing play area for Havens' students. See photos above.

Enrollment for 2022-23 School Year - PUSD will begin accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year on Friday, January 14th. Visit the District website for more information.

Student Vaccination Requirement Update - Reminder that with the approval of the COVID vaccine for children ages 5-11, families of age-eligible PUSD students are asked to provide proof of vaccination status no later than January 14, 2022. Please check your email for instructions on how to submit. Over 80% of PUSD students have reported fully vaccinated! Thank you for your partnership in keeping our campuses safe.

COVID Safety Plan & FAQ - PUSD has posted a COVID Safety & Operations Plan as well as answers to Frequently Asked Questions on its website.

Daily Health Screener - Students and families are reminded to resume filling out the District’s Daily Health Screener when returning to school on January 5th. The information provided is important in assessing student health and is vital for contact tracing in the event of a positive COVID case. The screener is sent to all families every morning via email and text.

Local & State COVID-19 School Guidance - The Alameda County Office of Education and California Department of Public Health are great resources of COVID-19 information for families and are incorporated into the District’s COVID FAQ.

Transitional Kindergarten Information Night - Families interested in enrolling in PUSD's Transitional Kindergarten program for the 2022-23 school year are invited to an online Information Night on January 13th.

'Giving Campaign' Continues Through December 31st - Thanks to the Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) and to everyone who has donated to its annual campaign to support Piedmont students. The PEF is offering a Taco Truck dinner to the grade with the highest participation in the Campaign. Visit the PEF website for more information.
