Greetings Students and Families
We are nearing the end of the first quarter and we are so proud of all the Lenox Pioneers and their hard work, persistence, and kindness towards others! Students have been busy showing and sharing what they know these past few weeks so that teachers can design instruction to match their strengths and needs. Conferences will be a great opportunity to learn more about your child's progress!
Teacher/Parent conferences are scheduled for Monday, November 21st and Tuesday, November 22nd. To secure a conference time, please login to ParentVue to select a conference time for your child/children. Follow these directions for signing up for conferences or watch this video here. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher or the office at 503-844-1360. If you are in need of translation services and have not already connected with our English Language Development team, please let your child's teacher know as well. We look forward to connecting with you soon!
There are many things happening this month both in school and in our community; be sure to check out all the details below. And, as a reminder, if you ever have questions, suggestions, or wonderings, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's classroom teacher, the office or me. Communication and connection are key to our success!

News & Notes You Need to Know
Crutches/Braces/Cast Reminders
If your child has a cast, brace, or is on crutches, please call the office and share a doctor's note so that we can accurately accommodate and support. Your child's safety and wellbeing are at the top of our priority list!
Technology Support:
This document shows three of the most common issues with Acer student Chromebooks and how to resolve them. Issues covered include broken styluses, @ symbol not working, and devices not powering on when plugged in.
If you need help, have questions, or want to report a lost/damaged Chromebook, contact Lenox Technology Support by call or text at 971-206-4223 or email hartzelc@hsd.k12.or.us (Mon-Fri 7:30 am - 4:00 pm)
Rain & Cold Weather
Students have two recesses a day and will continue to go outside moving into the winter. We have two covered areas and do close the field/equipment when needed. Please send your student(s) to school with a jacket. Our lost and found is filling up, so adding names in coats/sweaters/etc. is very helpful when students are looking for lost items. Be sure to encourage your student(s) to visit the lost and found this week!
Attendance & Tardies
9 or less is best! Regular, on-time attendance is essential to students’ education and our goal is that students miss 9 days or less during a school year. If your student will not be attending school, please call our attendance line at 503-844-1363, and be sure to share the reason for the absence. Class starts promptly at 7:45 - if a student arrives at or after 7:45 they need to stop by the front office to check in and grab a tardy pass.
Too Sick for School Guidance
In the school environment, many communicable diseases are easily transmitted from one student to another. A healthy environment involves prevention, early recognition of illness, symptoms, prompt diagnosis and treatment. Children who are not feeling well have a difficult time concentrating and therefore do not benefit from the instruction they receive during that time. Please do not send an ill child to school. We need your assistance in providing a safe and healthy environment for your child. You can view HSD's Too Sick for School guidance here; English/ Spanish
Volunteers
If you are interested in volunteering or joining your student at lunch, you must complete the HSD volunteer application including fingerprinting. You can visit
https://volunteerapplication.hsd.k12.or.us/ to begin the process or check on the status of your application.

SERVICES OFFERED FOR TALENTED AND GIFTED (TAG) STUDENTS
Parents are welcome to refer their child for services designed for students identified as talented and gifted. Students who score at or above the 97th percentile on a nationally standardized, norm-referenced test of overall reading or math or on a mental abilities test, and have other confirming evidence that they learn at a rapid rate and advanced level, are identified as TAG students. With parent input, individual plans are made to adjust the rate and level of the student’s instruction to meet his or her specific needs. If you think your child may qualify for TAG services, and want information about the referral and identification process, please contact our school’s TAG Coordinator.
