Entering the Building & Pre-Homeroom
Bus Drop Off
- You will enter the building using the Student Entrance ramp in the rear of the building
- Once you enter the building, you will be permitted to go to one of three locations: Gym, Auditorium, or Cafeteria (if you) are having breakfast. Only students that will be eating breakfast will be permitted to sit in the cafeteria.
- Each designated area will be supervised by staff and will have seating identified according to social distancing protocols. Students are to sit only on the PAW Print sticker. Once you are in the Gym or Auditorium, you will have to stay in that location until the 8:12 am bell rings.
- If you want to get breakfast, you should report to the cafeteria first, and then after eating, report to either the Gym or the Auditorium.
- Students will only be permitted to wait in the hallways once the three main areas are at capacity.
Student Drop Off (No Bus):
- If you are getting dropped off you will use the main loop in the front of the building. The Drop Off Location is the flag pole. The building will be open promptly at 7:50 am.
- You will then enter through the doors under the BCIT Medford sign.
- DO NOT ENTER THROUGH THE MAIN OFFICE.
- Students will be permitted to go to one of three locations: Gym, Auditorium, or Cafeteria (if you) are having breakfast. Only students that will be eating breakfast will be permitted to sit in the cafeteria.
Lunch Procedures
Lunch Sessions:
Each lunch period will be split into (2) 18 minute sessions with 4 minutes of change over time. Students will be informed of what session they will attend by the color of their schedules in homeroom on the first day of school. Aqua colored schedules will have lunch the first session and Pink colored schedules will report to the auditorium first during their assigned lunch period. The students will then switch locations for the second half of their assigned lunch period.
Students in the auditorium will utilize this time as a study hall. Snack style food will be permitted in designated areas of the auditorium. Students will be permitted to stay in the auditorium if they do not wish to attend the cafeteria session.
Masks should be worn when students are not eating.

Quarantined Students & Attendance
Students that are not on the Quarantine List or do not meet the attendance policy for an excused absence will be marked as an Unexcused Absence in Genesis. Please refer to the district attendance policy for the list of approved absences.
Quarantine and Instruction
Students who are told to quarantine will be required to log into each class for the duration of the period. Online students can:
Listen to lectures or small group discussions
Work independently on assignments
Participate in classroom discussions virtually
Expectations for Attendance:
The school nurse will identify students who need to quarantine and alert the teachers regarding the start and end dates.
Students who are identified as needing to quarantine by the school will be provided with online instruction. Students are only permitted to attend virtual classes if they are quarantined.
Students are expected to log into their homeroom at 8:20 and attend all classes in order to receive credit for the school day.
Classwork and assignments will be due by the end of the block or as assigned by each teacher.
Restroom Access & Water Fountains
Teachers will allow one student at a time out of their class for the lavatory unless there is an emergency. The restrooms will have limited capacity. Staff will monitor the restrooms to ensure the safety of the students.
Water Fountains and Water Filling Stations will be in full operation!!! Students are encouraged to utilize their own water bottles throughout the day.
DO NOT SHARE BOTTLES WITH OTHER STUDENTS!!!
Physical Education Procedures
More information will be provided by the PE staff to the students and families once the plan is finalized. Students will not be required to change for PE class until the finalized plans are communicated to the students and parents.
What do I need to do for the first day of school?
Please be sure to have the following items complete or ready to go for the first day of school:
- The online COVID form must be completed by parents prior to start of school
- BCIT Medford issued Chrome book - fully charged
- Name of HR Teacher and HR room #
- Appropriate clothing and required appropriate mask
- Bus information for dismissal (Bus Company Name, Bus #, etc.) Very Important!!!
