Full Throttle!
Dear Atholton Families,
Our school year is in full throttle! We held our Senior Kickoff this past week where I had the opportunity to speak with seniors and share my expectations for them as leaders in our school.
Our students are not only fully engaged in their academics, but they are fully engaged in their extracurricular activities as well. Having spent time in classrooms during the school day, I was excited to engage with students outside of the classroom.
Last Wednesday, in keeping with a promise made last year, I met up with the Atholton Golf Team at Hobbit’s Glen and played a round of golf with students. Mr. Senisi, Mr. Richman, Mr. Fales, and Officer Kane participated in the outing as well. It was a great afternoon engaging with students and a nice opportunity to see how talented our golf team is. Thank you to Coach Appleby and his team for a great afternoon!
Friday night was our first home football game. The stands were packed with students filled with school spirit. Although we didn’t win, our team fought hard. Even more impressive, our students were there to support the team right until the end. Our POMS and Cheer teams led the enthusiasm with our phenomenal marching band headlining at half-time. It was a great evening for Raider Nation football.
Today was an exciting day as I had the honor of accompanying five of our football players to opening day for the Baltimore Ravens. Our student athletes – Chris Bookter, Harrison Feldman, Jordan Fore, Bryce Jamison, and Jonathan Watkins participated in the Ravens Half-Time Combine against South River H.S. Our players represented Atholton well! We now have to follow this season to see if their time of :38 sec holds up against other high schools.
Atholton held a mandatory safe driving class last week. All students that plan to drive to school should have their parking permit. We will begin enforcing parking permits on Tuesday, Sept. 17. If you have yet to attend a class, they are offered at schools throughout the county. You can find a list of classes here. Parking permits may be purchased in the front office at a cost of $15.
Lastly, if you have not had an opportunity to update your family file information, please do so here. Not only is important for us to have up-to-date emergency contact information, but you also are able to monitor your child’s grades online. Additionally, if you have not joined our PTSA, the process is quite simple and can be done here. Your membership provides support to the various activities that take place during the school year. Thank you in advance for your support of our school. You will also find the links to our various boosters programs below. Please visit their websites for more information on how you can support our students.
Wishing you all a fantastic week!
Warmest Regards,
