RRHS Update - Week of 10/9/2023
Monday 10/9/23 is a Holiday! Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day
PSATs - Wednesday 10/11/23
All students in grades 9-11 will take the digital version of the PSAT 8/9 or the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday. Rock Ridge HS will follow this modified bell schedule. Each students’ specific test details as well as general testing reminders were emailed to students on Friday, October 6. The digital test measures the same skills and knowledge as the paper test, so students can prepare the same way they would prepare for the paper version. The College Board’s website is a great place to start.
Students should bring a charged LCPS-issued Chromebook, its charger, pencils, and a water/snack. Any student who forgets their Chromebook will not be allowed to test and will instead be sent to the Auditorium for study hall. Students with Chromebook issues should reach out to Glenn Colucci before test day.
It is LCPS’s policy that students are not allowed to bring hand-held calculators on test day. All students are expected to use the Desmos calculator built into the test. Here is a brief tutorial on how to use this calculator.
Any senior who attends school on October 11 will have a study hall in the Auditorium. Teachers will not be available for extra help, and the academic wing will be closed to non-testers.
**If you are planning for a late arrival or early dismissal on October 11, you must indicate this ASAP in ParentVue. **DO NOT PUT “Release after PSAT” There needs to be an EXACT TIME of 12:30 pm or later. We cannot dismiss any student early once testing has started. There will be no dismissals prior to 12:30 pm.

Math Help for Rock Ridge Students
Math teachers and peer tutors are available in Math Lab to offer assistance with math homework, remediation, and re-takes during every school day. To get help, students must request a pass from their math teacher some time before their study hall block.
For students that do not have a study hall block in their schedule, this assistance is available after school on Wednesdays. Activity busses are available after school on Wednesdays if students need transportation home. Each Wednesday after school, stop by room 1206 and let us know which class (Algebra 1, Geometry, etc) you are taking. Please have your attempted homework and questions ready!
For students taking Computer Math, help is available in room L518 after school on Wednesdays.
Unified Mental Health Team Presentations
Each year, Rock Ridge Unified Mental Health Team members give mental health presentations to all students. This year, 11th and 12th grade presentations are occurring during your student’s English class. The presentations discuss signs of depression, protective factors, coping skills, and accessing support.
If you do not want your student attending this presentation, please complete the following permission click link to opt your student out of the presentation. Students who opt out will be able to go an alternate location during the short presentation.
