Weekly Schedule

Next week is a regular week of school for grades 1-5. Kindergarten students do not have school Friday, April 28th due to incoming kindergarten orientation.

Upcoming Grade Level Trips

1st Grade will be going on a field trip to the Maryland Science Center on Wednesday, April 26th.

2nd Grade will be going on a field trip to the Aviation Museum on Tuesday, May 9th.

Farquhar Middle School Play for 3rd Grade

3rd Grade students will travel to Farquhar middle school on Friday, April 28th to see the student produced play, "The Little Mermaid Jr." Students will go and return during the school day.

Update on State Testing

This week we began Maryland state assessments in Grade 5. Students have been working hard! Tests and assessments are great opportunities for our students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills learned so far. We will continue testing (including makeups for students who miss testing) through next month.

Upcoming MCAP Testing

April 17-20: Grade 5 ELA

April 24-26, May 1: Grade 3 ELA

May 2-4: Grade 4 ELA

May 8-11: Grade 5 Math

May 8, 9,11,12: Grade 3 Math

May 12,15,16,17: Grade 4 Math

Tests can be stressful, but also a great time to shine! If you are looking for strategies to use to support your child, here are some to consider:

Pep talk with your child to boost their confidence
Focus more on the process of taking tests, less on the results
Remind your child to pace themselves during the test
Eat a good breakfast
Get plenty of rest
Dress in layers to ensure your child is not too hot or cold
Come to school on time
Check in with your child when you see them afterschool
Celebrate that their test is completed!

Caregiver Recess Volunteer Training

We will be holding two caregiver recess volunteer trainings on Friday, April 28th at 8:15 am and again 4:15 pm. Both trainings will be in-person and are required in order for caregivers and parents to volunteer at recess.

Kindergarten Orientation

Kindergarten Orientation for next year is on April 28!

Reminder, there will be NO SCHOOL for our current Kindergarten students on that day so if you currently have a student in Ms. Gandel, Ms. Goldberg, Ms. Kelly or Ms. Power's class, please mark your calendar that they will not have school on April 28!!
