Parent teacher conferences: October 17
First Semester Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place Tuesday, October 17. To best fit the needs and preferences of our families, Leyden will be offering virtual conferences from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and in-person, on campus conferences from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Upon request, translators will be available for both virtual and in-person conferences. Registration information will be forthcoming.
Parents/guardians must sign-up electronically to be able to meet with each individual teacher. The registration scheduler opens for families on Wednesday, October 11, at 8:00 a.m. and is accessible through Home Access Center (HAC). A slide deck with instructions is available online, and contains parent/guardian login information. The registration period closes on Tuesday, October 17, at 8 a.m.

Fall testing dates and schedules
On October 12, grade 9 students will take the PSAT 8/9. All other students will attend classes on their regular schedules. On October 24, grade 10 students will take the PSAT 10 and grade 11 students will take the NMSQT tests. A grab and go lunch will be available, as will buses after the testing period. All other students will not have school that day.
All students have access to free video lessons and practice assessments via Khan Academy, and this practice experience is tailored to meet individual student needs. Students can access these materials at www.satpractice.org. Students will also be encouraged to practice through Bluebook, College Board’s test delivery platform. Bluebook will be introduced to students during the school day.
"Application Mania" at East, October 19
Attention Seniors: time to get your college applications submitted. Counselors will be available on October 19, in the Nest (D202) from 2:45 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. to help with the college application process.
Operation Snowball hosts showcase
Operation Snowball hosted their first showcase of 2023. This event was a chance to educate student leaders with workshops that address different topics such as leadership, stress, and more. There was also time for participants to showcase what they have been doing at school and what their plans are for the rest of the year. If interested in joining Operation Snowball please contact Ms. Ratini at West Leyden or Ms. Muldoon at East Leyden.
Leyden Marching Band visits Cedar Point
Leyden Marching Band, Color Guard, Poms and Cheerleading headed to Ohio on September 22 for their annual Cedar Point Tour. This is the 24th year Mr. Miller has been taking students to Cedar Point for a weekend of music and fun.

The Autism Program of Illinois (TAP)'s has a training program called ASSIST Training. It aims to improve parents’ ability to advocate for adult services on behalf of their child or young adult on the autism spectrum. The TAP ASSIST Training is free and open to all Illinois parents/guardians who have a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) ages fourteen to twenty-two.
