December 4, 2023 Newsletter
Message from Principal Mayes
On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to you and your children as we embark on the second semester of the academic year.
I want to express my gratitude for your support and collaboration throughout the past semester. Your dedication and involvement in your child's education have played a crucial role in our collective success at Hughes. Together, we have created an environment where our students can thrive and grow both academically and personally.
With the start of a new year, it is an opportune time for us to reflect on the achievements and challenges we faced in the first semester. I am incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, resilience, and determination. Their accomplishments serve as a testament to their commitment to excellence. As we move forward, I am confident that the second semester will bring even greater accomplishments and personal growth.
Thank you once again for your dedication. Your involvement makes a significant difference in the lives of our students. As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Individual Graduation Plans
Individual Graduation Plans (IGPs) are beginning for our 8th graders! Mrs. Torlay and Mrs. Gibson spoke to every 8th grader during their science class to chat about High School Graduation Requirements, Magnet programs, GPAs and more! Every 8th grader has to have an IGP meeting with a counselor and a parent or guardian. The goal of these meetings is to review each student’s goals for the future to make sure they are on track for promotion and graduation.
Parents play an important role in helping
students make good choices for high school. Every 8th grader received their IGP invitation with a date and time for their parents to attend their child's meeting. Please RSVP using the QR code.
