RISE To The Crown
Royal Families,
What an incredible third week of school!
It's been heartwarming to see our students' enthusiasm for learning and their positive energy radiating through the hallways. We're off to a phenomenal start, and I couldn't be prouder of our dedicated staff and amazing students. Let's keep this momentum going as we embark on another exciting week of growth and discovery!

Announcements
8th Grade DC Trip - June 2024
Unfortunately, our DC trip has been cancelled for June 2024.
Chromebook Reminders
Now that classes are in full swing, students are utilizing their Chromebooks a lot. Please help remind your child that they should be bringing their Chromebook AND charger to school EVERYDAY. If your child has lost their charger they need to pay for their charger ($30) before they can receive a new one.
Also, we have seen an uptick in the amount of broken chromebook screens. Please remind your student to be responsible when using their chromebook and carrying it in between classes. There is a fee involved with any chromebook repair from $70-$350.
Sports News from Mr. Steinbach
We will have practice everyday this week from 4:45-6:15.
We have several games this week! A parent, adult or guardian must be with the student to attend games.
Student Spectators:
Students are able to attend home games of Quist teams provided they adhere to the expectations of a good spectator:
Seated in the stands (or designated spectator area) during actual play. (Leaving the game and wandering to other parts of the school are not permitted.)
Cheering for the Quist team while not taunting or disparaging the other team.
Respecting others attending.
When a student fails to meet these expectations they will be asked to leave the premises.
At the end of a game, students need to leave the school grounds immediately with the parent, adult or guardian who is supervising them.
There will not be supervision past the end of the competition.

Quist Policies (REPEAT)
No Cell Phones - 8:35 a.m. - 4:37 p.m.
In the interest of our student's health, safety, and education, we will require every student to leave his or her phone turned off and in their locker or leave them at home. Students must keep their turned off phones in their locker or at home between 8:35 a.m. and 4:37 p.m.
This also includes lunch/recess.
We feel this decision will support our goal to build and maintain a positive school culture and community for our students. Like many schools in the U.S., we are struggling with school bullying and student distraction with cell phones.
Science and research supports students who do not have the freedom of accessing their phones during school hours, are more engaged socially and academically. https://www.awayfortheday.org/research/
There is also growing concern about the long-term impact of cell phone/technology use on brain development and healthy social emotional development.
We realize this decision may make some families nervous, however parents can communicate to their child any time of day through the front office. Students will be able to access their phones at 4:37 pm
Violations to device expectations are as follows:
Mr. McMillan will give a reminder/warning at the start of every day during announcements.
After that, the device will be confiscated by the staff member and turned in to the office. Parents will have to pick up the device in the office.
Outside Lunch Policy
Pick Up After 4:15 p.m
If you need to pick up your student early from school for an appointment, please make note that you need to arrive prior to 4:15 p.m.
After 4:15 p.m., staff and students are in transitions and closing time. Students will only be called down in emergencies. Please plan your pick up prior to 4:15 p.m.
