
Winter Nature Playdate
Common Ground: 358 Springside Ave, New Haven
Saturday, January 14, 10 AM - 1 PM
Enjoy some outdoor playtime at our Nature Playdate!
FREE, no RSVP needed, open to children of all ages.
10 - 10:30 AM: Help us wake up the animals and do some morning farm chores
11:30 AM: Help us take our goats out for a walk around campus
Ongoing, 10 AM - 1 PM:
- Visit the chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, and sheep
- Play in the sandpit and mud kitchen
- Build a fort in the woods
- Take a self guided hike on the Old Oak Nature Trail
We will have fruit and veggie treats for feeding to the farm animals. You are welcome to bring your own lettuce and other greens, carrots, and sliced apples. No bread or other non fruit/veggies please.
Children must attend with and be supervised by an adult, and all ages are welcome.

Saturday, January 28: felt flowers and acorns!
Children and adults are invited to enjoy a morning of fiber arts as we needlefelt a colorful wool acorn and wet felt a wool flower!
Participants will learn each of these felting techniques and will take home a felted acorn and flower.
These are INDOOR activities, with the option to spend a little outside time meeting our sheep and offering them some veggie treats!
$15 per person for both children and adult participants. Children must attend with an adult. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Adults without children also welcome!

DONATION WISHLIST
Our Children's Programs at Common Ground are happy to receive any of the items below:
- Baskets in any shape and size
- Clean buckets in assorted sizes
- Legos and magnatiles
- Art supplies, especially acrylic paint, small paint brushes, yarn, and scissors.
- Sturdy plastic or metal trucks/vehicles that can withstand outdoor use in the sandbox
- Plastic animal figures
- Underwear, socks, and elastic waist sweatpants/leggings/athletic pants in sizes 5 - 12. (We keep a stash to give to children who need an unexpected clothing change)
- Slides and plastic climbers (We disassemble these and use them in Tinkertown as large loose parts)
- Lengths of PVC pipe, corrugated drainage pipe, garden hoses - with leaks is fine! (We use all of these as loose parts in Tinkertown)
- Plastic grocery bags
- Newspaper (for campfire kindling)
- Small scrap wood that we can use in the children's woodshop
- Folding wagons (We use them for hauling program supplies around campus and to local schools)
