SHS Staff, Students, Parents and Guardians!
As we head into the final week of Semester 1, I encourage all parents to continue to discuss their students grades and attendance. Students will have the final week to turn in missing work potential credit. Your son/daughter's second semester schedule may change and students will have the first five days to change and or modify. Ms. Holzhauer will be available to work with students through a scheduled appointment.
I am excited for the second semester of our school year to begin. This is the time of the year where we will participate in state testing as well as our iReady Winter session begins. Our iReady testing will be held January 27th and 28th. If you have any immediate needs or questions, please reach out to our office for assistance @ 509-427-5631!
Go Dawgs!
Have a great week!

We will be having an application help day this Thursday December 19th. I'll have my room (26) open all day to have students come in if they need any help with applications, proofreading personal essays, answering questions, or just starting an application.
I'd definitely encourage any students applying to college/trade/vocational schools to drop by if they have questions since many colleges tend to have priority deadlines early in the year so it's good to have apps squared away to make time for Financial Aid.
However!! My room will also be open to anyone who wants help with any type of app be that for jobs or apprenticeships.
Please let your seniors know this is happening! I'll also be making sure they get an email reminder.
Thank you,
--

Hi, I'm the new College and Career Readiness Advisor at Stevenson. I am based in the building M-Th in classroom 26 and typically work remotely on Fridays. My role is to support all 9-12 grade students in reaching their next steps after high school whether that is college, trade schools, the workforce, the military, etc. I run individual meetings, schedule college and career visits, and help with group events focused on post-high school success. Feel free to drop in or set up a meeting with me throughout the year; I meet with students and/or families. You can reach me by email painterl@scsd303.org as well."
Tips From Ms. Freed
TIPS FOR WELLBEING
Manage your expectations. Stay in the present moment (mindfulness) with gratitude for the little things. List them.
Remember you can’t control other people or events, but you can adjust your expectations, reactions and attitude. This can make all the difference for you.
Practice Self-Awareness. Check in with yourself. What are you truly feeling, rate yourself and if you get to a certain level of discomfort, Take a Break! Write down your thoughts, allow yourself time to feel.
Have a Plan B- Share it with someone, in case you need to call them. Take a walk, self-sooth in a healthy way, listen to music, step away from the screen and into nature.
Breathe- Practice, practice, practice. Long exhales will lower your stress response.
Connect. Find a way to engage with people, greet a stranger, be welcoming, compliment someone, offer a hand in service.
Treat yourself with the love you would offer to your best friend.
