Falcon Express Update to Families
21 - August - 2023
Message from Principal Higgs
Thank you for a successful first week. We appreciated your patience and grace as we navigated arrival procedures and delayed dismissals.
Thank you for adhering to our arrival and dismissal procedures by looping through the parking lot closest to Millennium Hall while waiting for arrival and dismissal procedures to begin. Please remember that the "drive" directly in front of the administration building is a fire lane and there should be no parking and only moving traffic in this area.
Last week, we welcomed students back on campus by spending the first 72 hours establishing classroom expectations, and school-wide routines, and building relationships. The first 72 hours concluded with student assemblies where we reiterated that Falcons have PRIDE by being:
P - Prepared for Today
R - Respecting our School
I - Interacting Positively
D - Doing our Best
E - Encouraging Excellence
Please speak with your student about remembering to display PRIDE each day. Campus-wide procedures regarding cell phone red and green zones, tardies, and dress code will start to be tracked and further addressed this week. As a snapshot, electronic devices are allowed to be used before school and during lunch. Electronic devices are expected to be silenced and placed in backpacks during class transitions and during classes. If you need to reach your student during class time, we ask that you do not message or call their personal devices, but reach out to the front office and we can help coordinate the delivery of the message.
We have been speaking to our Falcons about adhering to the SCPS dress code. Please join us in ensuring that your child is in compliance.
Please make sure to fill out the Health Services forms, Code of Conduct Acknowledgement, and necessary forms for Volleyball tryouts or performing arts events, and consider joining PTSA. Events and extracurricular permission slips will be sent home by the event sponsor.
Thank you for your partnership and have a PRIDE-filled week.
