EVERGREEN ELEMENTARY-FAMILY CONNECTION

Greetings Evergreen Families,

Welcome October!! We are happy to have Mr. Hines join the EES Team as our Safety Assistant. His desk is in the front office to assist with parents/guardians, visitors, and much more.

All of the first grade classes will be attending field trips to Elms Environmental Center throughout the week, so please dress students for an outdoor adventure. Also, we are excited for the upcoming PTO Event, Book Bingo, please come out and join the FUN this Thursday!

Parent Conference Day is coming up on Monday, October 9, 2023. This day is also an asynchronous virtual day for students from 9:00 a.m.-1:45 p.m. only.

This means, students will work independently at home on work assigned by their teacher. Students may bring home their laptops to participate in virtual learning. Stay tuned for more information from your child's teachers.

We celebrated school family, September birthdays, random acts of kindness, jokes, special announcements, 5th grade Student Ambassador Team, school wide attendance, MTSS (Respectful, Responsible and Safe), Chessie's Citizenship recipients and so much more.

Drive-Thru Flu Vaccine for St. Mary’s County Community Members

The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD), in coordination with MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital (MSMH) and the St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS), is offering drive-thru flu vaccine clinics for St. Mary’s County resident September 13, 2023 . All persons aged 6 months and older can decrease their chance for influenza infection or severe illness by getting a flu vaccine every season. Flu vaccine is especially recommended for those at higher risk of flu complications, including young children, adults 65 years of age and older, pregnant women, and people with certain health conditions.

Individuals age 19 and older
- MSMH will provide flu vaccines for this age group. Registration will take place on-site. $10 donations are requested.
Individuals age 18 and under

SMCHD will provide flu vaccines for free for this age group. Registration will take place on-site. A parent or guardian must be present for children under the age of 18.

There will be NO school-located flu clinics provided at the public schools this year, so parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their child to one of these locations for flu vaccinations.

EVERGREEN SPIRITWEAR SALE:

Attached is a flyer for the Spiritwear Sale going on now and ending Oct. 6. Please include this in the newsletter or send a schoolwide email so families and staff can purchase Spiritwear to show their school spirit and raise funds for PTO. Website for sale is www.marktapparel.com/evergreen

REMINDERS FOR COMPLETION:

*Online Meal Benefit application as needed. This opportunity for assistance does not roll over from last year. If you want to view your child's meal purchases and add funds, use the My School Bucks link. Cost of breakfast for students is $1.75 and lunch is $3.00.

Families, sharing so you are aware that there are a lot of additional benefits by submitting a meal application form. These perks include waivers on college applications, dual-enrollment courses with the College of Southern Maryland, and discounted fees to participate in St. Mary’s County Parks and Recreation programs.
