School Board Highlights - January 26, 2021
2021-2022 School Calendar
The Board approved the 2021-2022 school calendar. Following are some of the highlights of the approved calendar:
First day of school Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021
No School Tuesday, Nov. 23 through Friday, Nov. 26, 2021
No School Winter Break Monday, Dec. 20 through Friday, Dec. 31, 2021 with school resuming Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022
No School Spring Break Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25, 2022
Last Day of School is Wednesday, June 1, 2022
School Fees
The board approved the school fees for the 2021-2022 year. The pricing reflects the agreed upon Consumer Price Index increase for all fees for next year and the tuition reduction to the full day kindergarten program adjusted to $3,500 annually.
D103 Learning Update
School Updates: Principals shared the learning experiences taking place across schools both in-person and remotely.
Staff Vaccination: The State has moved into Phase 1b for the administration of the COVID vaccine. Staff has been invited to sign up for the vaccine, which is expected to be administered starting in February at two Lake County sites for school district employees only.
Metrics: Superintendent Scott Warren noted that Lake County moved into Tier 1 mitigation. The positivity rate continues to decline in the area of Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103. There have been no outbreaks in Lake County schools in the past 30 days.
COVID Expenses
Administration has been seeing savings in many of the non-COVID impacted areas, which helps to offset the expenditures focused on safely returning students to the schools. Patrick Palbicke, Assistant Superintendent for Business, believes the end of the school year will still result in a revenue positive budget despite the difficulties of this year and the revenue constraints associated with the D103 FY-2021 Budget.
Exceptional Learners Collaborative
District 103’s tuition to the Exceptional Learners Collaborative (ELC) has increased over the years due to the collaborative’s program growth. The district is reviewing its usage with the ELC to ensure it is not paying more than its proportionate share.

Leave Your Legacy in D103
The D103 Learning Fund Foundation invites your family to leave a legacy at D103 with the launch of the Legacy Brick Fundraiser. With the completion of the Daniel Wright construction project, the Foundation invites families to donate $100 to inscript their name on a brick pathway outside the remodeled school.
This LFF Legacy Brick Fundraiser video, narrated by Daniel Wright Principal Michelle Blackley and featuring the new school mascot, outlines the project. This is a great opportunity to bring our community together, so please consider a donation. The Learning Fund and all of our schools appreciate your generous support.
