HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH!
It's a great time to be a Raider :-) Here are a few of our many highlights!
CONGRATULATIONS FIELD HOCKEY
Congratulations to the Girl's Field Hockey team that took the Division 3 State Championship title for the 3rd consecutive year. It was a season of records with the team breaking the national record for the consecutive number of shutouts at 34, Molly Driscoll broke the Watertown High School Girls Field Hockey record for goals scored at 147, and Coach Donahue won her 750th game.
12 ANGRY JURORS
ML LEADERS PANEL
Our staff was treated to a panel presentation by our multilingual learners leadership club. Hearing from students is the best way for our staff to learn exactly what our students need and how best to serve them. We appreciate our student's willingness to teach us!
PEP RALLY!
With the help and generosity of Watertown Middle School, we were able to have a successful and fun fall pep rally! The Band, Cheer team, Dance team, and Choir gave spectacular performances for our school. Our pep rally is a great opportunity to celebrate all our fall teams and events.
THANKSGIVING FOOTBALL
Thanksgiving saw Watertown hosting the 101st annual Thanksgiving Day Football game vs Belmont. It was a beautiful day for football.

TEACHER CONFERENCES
As per the smore sent out earlier this week, we will be hosting our in-person family-teacher conferences tomorrow. Next Tuesday, December 5th, we will host our virtual family-teacher conferences. Please see the following link to sign up for both sessions if you have not already.
These conferences are meant to be a brief check in (approximately 10-15 minutes) with teachers regarding your student's academic work. Families decide which and how many teachers they would like to meet with.
Report Cards
Quarter 1 report cards were distributed to students last week during their advisory block. Honor roll certificates were distributed yesterday during advisory. Congratulations to all of our hard-working students who received these certificates, your effort does not go unnoticed.
In addition, please see the below resource, "PowerSchool Family Resources", on additional ways to check your student's grades.

OFF-CAMPUS LUNCH PRIVILEGE (PILOT) FOR GRADE 10 STARTS WEDNESDAY, NOV 15TH
One important lesson our students learn in school is the ability to advocate for themselves. Beginning in September, Grade 10 students began a respectful conversation with administration around the possibility of allowing Grade 10 students to travel off campus during lunch. After several meetings with Grade 10 student leaders, the WHS Operations Team, conversations with the superintendent, feedback from many families during the call-a-thon, as well as discussions with local business owners and neighbors, we have made the decision to allow off-campus lunch privileges for Grade 10, starting Wednesday, November 15th, as a pilot program. We did not take this decision lightly and there have been several ways the decision, the expectations, and the consequences for abuse have been communicated, including a whole school announcement you can read here.
I want to be very clear: YOU MAY OPT OUT OF YOUR STUDENT USING THE LUNCH PRIVILEGE. To do-so, please email Ms. Sulzman at Hope.Sulzman@watertown.k12.ma.us AND tell your student they are not allowed to go off campus for lunch. The majority of our students use our "cafeteria", especially as the cold has set in. The students that do go off campus use three businesses, predominantly (Metro Mini Mart, Mimi's Subs, and Dunkin Donuts). All of these businesses are within approx 100 yards of the school. Two of them do not require students to cross Main St. Many days, I am stationed on Main St. making sure students are crossing safely and behaving. We have received many compliments from business owners about how kind and respectful our students are. We will try expanding our off-campus privileges and report back with our findings. Please have a conversation with your student to echo the expectations outlined in the letter linked above. Finally, please note that 9th grade is NOT included in this shift and will not be receiving off-campus privilege.
