Greenview Knolls Elementary
Weekly Update #9-October 27, 2023
Greetings GKES Families,
We need your help by completing the Impact Aid Form linked here.
Online Federal Impact Aid- The school system receives federal grant funds to operate and maintain the schools for federally-connected students. To receive these federal funds, the United States Department of Education (USDE) requires the school system to survey each student. The deadline for the online submission of Federal Impact Aid Survey forms is November 14, 2023.
Greenview Knolls will host a Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, November 2nd at 9:00am, performed by our 4th and 5th grade classes. Veterans or active-duty military Greenview Knolls families are invited to this special performance. All parents of 4th and 5th grade students are also invited to attend. At this program we would like to honor the military/veteran family members of our school family by name and with a slide show. If you or your family member is a Veteran or Active Duty Military, please be a part of our celebration by letting us know more about you. You can use the google
doc link, email Ms. Gravelle or return the form below by Friday, October 27th. Please also attach or email a photo of the veteran/active-duty military individual we are honoring.

Costume Rules 🧟♂️
1. Avoid violent or bloody images. It is okay to look "scary," but there is a difference between frightening and gruesome.
2. Eye and face masks are acceptable (make sure that vision is not impaired). Makeup should be minimal and applied at home. *Remember--learning will still be taking place. So, your child will be asked to remove his/her mask until appropriate.
3. No Inflatable costumes, please!
4. Please make sure that your child's costume has nothing hanging below the wrist or ankle. Tripping and/or getting materials caught is a major concern.
5. Make sure that your child is able to remove their costume without help for bathroom use.
6. No Props (ex. toy guns, knives, swords, wands etc.).
7. Weapons of any kind are not permitted.
8. Remember that students scheduled for Physical Education on the 31st will still have class. Costumes for those students, therefore, should be selected with safety and maneuverability in mind.
ALERT: 🚫
NO CANDY TOSSING, PLEASE!

Talking with Our Children About Making Good Choices
We have been working with our children on making good choices, therefore, being responsible and respectful (2 of our 3 R's). Making good choices is also a big part of social and emotional learning.
We would appreciate your support following up with your child at home. Below is a great story to start the conversation. Thank you for your support! GO Team OWLS!!!
