The Latest and Greatest
This school year has presented us with some challenges we never expected. I am amazed at the resiliency of our students. They are doing such a great job. I watch many students each day come to lunch and start to take a bite of food, only to realize they still have their mask on! I love watching the look on their face as they realize this, then just laugh. Seeing children laughing is the best therapy around! They are so happy to be at school and learning. Please take some time to let your children know that you are proud of them. Let them know they are doing a great job and encourage them to keep working hard, even when it is hard.
I am so very impressed with our teachers and staff. Oh my, they have been thrown a curve ball! They gear down and do whatever needs to be done to help kids, from learning and implementing high quality online learning activities to teaching with all new protocols . Our support staff have stepped up to the plate by doubling their lunch supervision time, doing extra cleaning each day, helping launder cleaning rags each evening and a long list of other new things that need to be taken care of each day. Please let your child's teacher know you appreciate them and are grateful for their extra work and efforts to help make sure we can continue face to face instruction.
With all that said, thank you parents! It is impossible to do what we do without your help and support. Together we can accomplish incredible things. We all have such hard jobs, and we need each other. What a gift to work and live in a community that is focused on kids.
Thank you for taking time to make sure your child has both a clean water bottle and clean mask each day. We will, of course, continue to provide them if students forget, but your efforts in making these items part of your morning routine help our supply budget greatly!

If you shop Amazon, choose Art City Elementary on Amazon Smile. A portion of your purchase goes right back to Art City PTA, which means it goes right to our school, too!
We are still collecting Box Tops. But now there's an app!! You don't need to cut out, save and send those little tiny cardboard pieces to school. Download the Box Tops app and scan away. It makes a big difference for Art City Elementary.
