Willow Parent Bulletin # 23

Activities galore!
The heart theme has carried on throughout the building as students write "their promise." The activity stems from the LeBron James book, I Promise. It's an inspiring picture book that reminds us that tomorrow's success starts with the promises we make to ourselves and our community today. Ms. Wood reads a couple each morning on the announcements so everyone has a chance to hear all the wonderful ideas from our Wildcats!
This week marked the second session of clubs for the year. If students participated in the first session, they were not included this time so that others would get the same opportunity.
Next Wednesday is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. I am sure they would love to get a card or drawing from your Wildcat as a thank you for all they do to get everyone to and from school safely. I know the delays that often happen are as frustrating to them as they are to the rest of us. It would be wonderful for them to know that we see all their efforts in spite of that. You can google School Bus Driver Appreciation Day coloring sheets and find some fun choices to color.
Our students have become amazing writers! They are using these skills when writing their promises and talking about the things they love. They have also taken what they have learned and applied those skills in what they have learned during Black History Month. Check out the examples in the picture galary at the bottom!
Today is also National Random Acts of Kindness Day. I hope you are showered with little acts this weekend and give a few of your own in return!
PTA sponsored Read-A-Thon
Would your family like an all-expense paid trip to Walt Disney Theme Park? We would love to send you!
Homewood PTA is about to start a Read-a-thon Fundraiser on Monday, February 20th! It is a fun and exciting way for your child to raise money while reading.
As an added incentive, any child that sends 10 text messages through their dashboard to promote our fundraiser will automatically be registered in a nationwide drawing for the Walt Disney Theme Park trip.
*One winner will be chosen each season out of all Read-a-thons held during that season.

There are also prizes for the teachers of classrooms with the most children signed up.

ISO... furture Wildcats
If you have a child who turns 5 on or before September 1, 2023, he/she/they are eligible to attend kindergarten next year.
During orientation, you will meet the Kindergarten Team, get general information on what a typical day looks like, learn about curriculum, expectations, our screening process, and see a short video. We will have a folder of information for you to take home and a couple of raffle prizes.
If you cannot make it that evening, stop by our office any time to pick up a folder. The evening is designed for parents, not students.
