Greetings, members and friends.
I am back at work now after a six-week medical leave to get treatment for clinical depression brought on by the stress of the pandemic and our national political reality. I was fortunate to have the support of the UUCSJS Board in being able to take this leave time, and am glad to be back at work. My journey of healing will continue in the coming months, but I am now well enough to return to the ministry role I was called to serve.
General Assembly is this week and will take most of my time, but I will be able to check my email and phone messages periodically for things that need addressing.
I am glad to be back and look forward to the gradual opening up of our building and worship space.

Getting Better?
Some interesting things happened at the Board Meeting on Thursday, June 17th. Here are some of them.
- This was the first Board meeting the Rev. Dawn Fortune was able to attend since their medical leave started in April. We welcomed them back.
- The Board agreed to send Nick Bonar and me to the UUA’s General Assembly as voting delegates.
- The Board elected Kit Marlowe as Board President for the church year starting on July 1st. They elected Paul Utts (in absentia) as Vice President. Fortunately, Paul accepted that election when I called the next day.
- The Board affirmed our desire to hire Gina Roche-Rosenberg as Music Director. Details of the contract remain to be worked out.
- John Brilla and Jessica Dunn-Safonof introduced the idea of having a UU summer camp operate at the UU center in 2022. The Board showed great enthusiasm.
- Melissa and Ron Hutchinson expressed a desire to fund three to six electrical vehicle charging stations in the parking lot at the UU Center – both capital and operating cost.
Some good stuff is happening. Stay tuned for more news.
