Bridge Bulletin
September 24, 2021
From the Desk of Mrs. Rounds
We are nearing the end of September already! It is now fall as evidenced by super cold mornings, hoodies and long sleeved shirts. Please remember to send your kiddos with a jacket as morning recess is chilly! If they are missing their jacket, perhaps you can stop by the school this weekend and search through the mountain of coats and jackets in our LOST & FOUND bin which sits under the front portico.
Please keep reading for important updates and information.
As always, thank you for entrusting Bridge with your children's education.
See you Monday!

Volunteer Pond
Our charters suggests that families donate 30 hours of volunteer time to the school. This is NOT a requirement of attendance at Bridge.
Our Volunteer Pond is in the front foyer and pays tribute to those who have volunteered at least 30 hours of service and/or donated money or an in-kind donation. The pond is updated monthly. Please visit our VOLUNTEER page to log your hours including converting your monetary donations into hours.
Small Group Instruction
John Hattie, one of the the premier educational researchers, has identified small group direct instruction as having an effect size of 0.60 on student achievement and intervention through small group instruction as having an effect size of 1.27. Researchers suggest that anything with an effect size of at least 0.40 will help students achieve one year's academic progress.
Parking Lot Reminders - Again
Sadly, we had our first fender bender in the parking lot the other day. No injuries to humans but two vehicles were damaged - one was the parked car of a teacher. PLEASE - patience and attentiveness are vital to ensuring the safety of all of our kids, families and staff!
Morning Drop Off - PLEASE help us keep traffic moving and pull ALL the way forward. Your student can walk the extra few steps from your car to the front door. Drop off should be a 10 second operation in order to keep our traffic flowing smoothly. If you want a long, drawn out goodbye, please park your car and walk your child to the door.
Parents are always invited to volunteer to help in the parking lot.Just show up 15 minutes before school is out, grab a yellow vest and ask the office how you can assist.
Waterford Upstart FREE Pre-School Program
Having your pre-kinder student participate in a preschool program is ESSENTIAL to kindergarten success. Sadly, only 36% of this year's kindergarten students started school at the required benchmark level according to the state's Acadience (DIBELS) reading assessment. Waterford Upstart will give your kiddos the boost they need to be ready for kindergarten.

Visible Learning - Reflection
REFLECTION teaches students to review their learning to determine what works and ways in which they can improve.
Practice these "I WILL" statements with your student:
- Look back.
- Listen to feedback.
- Learn about myself.
- Plan my next steps.
- Reflect often.
Our mission is to empower students to take ownership of their own learning. By learning, practicing and embracing these visible learning traits, students will have the skills needed to become accountable for their own lifelong learning. You can find the six Visible Learning traits on our website at Visible Learning
Bridge Elementary
The mission of Bridge Elementary is to provide students with a personalized learning experience and empower them to take personal ownership and accountability for their own academic performance.
