Wall High School Knightly News
September 2023
A Message From Dr. Righi
Iโm so happy to report that the school year is off to a great start. Students came in ready to go and the faculty and staff always stand ready to work hard to support our students!
This yearโs Back to School Night was a huge success. Thank you to those of you who sent me emails regarding how happy you are with your childโs teachers and classes.
As we enter October, I am pleased to note that I will be returning later in the month to help with the transition of leadership at the high school.
In the meantime, enjoy our Pep Week planned for October 16-21, culminating with a return of our Homecoming Dance scheduled for Saturday, October 21st.
October is also a big month for our seniors. Making plans for college, the military, or the workforce continues in earnest this month.
Iโm so proud of our staff and students and grateful to be able to work alongside such wonderful people.
Letโs make October another month of achievement, growth, and community involvement.
-Dr. Righi
Important Informationโ
โ๏ธ PSAT 10th & 11th Grades: October 11th
All students will report to school at their regular time and will follow an early dismissal schedule, concluding at 11:45 a.m.
Students taking the PSAT will report to their assigned testing room. Additional details about the schedule of activities will be shared with seniors.
โโ๏ธ Important PSAT Information for Parents of 9, 10 & 11 Graders
Beginning in the fall of 2023, the PSAT 8/9 and the PSAT/NMSQT will be making a full transition from a paper/pencil exam to a digital exam. All students will take the Digital PSAT/NMSQT at Wall High School and are automatically registered for this test.
Test Day: Wednesday, October 11 *early dismissal (11:45 am) for all students*
Taking the PSAT 8/9 and the PSAT/NMSQT can encourage a student to start thinking seriously about life after high school, about college and career goals, and about the education needed to reach those goals. The PSAT/NMSQT has been designed to mirror the SAT.
Students can prepare for this exam by reviewing the information in the PSAT/NMSQTยฎ Student Guide. There is also additional practice available online. The College Board has partnered with Khan Academy to provide free SAT online practice.
Wall High School provides all students with academic opportunities needed to prepare them for college and beyond. Participation in the PSAT/NMSQT is an important step in preparing for college.
Taking the PSAT/NMSQT provides the following advantages to students:
It measures the reading, math, and writing skills needed for college and career planning. After the test, students will retrieve their online score report that will highlight opportunities to strengthen academic skills. Students can use the score report to show strengths and weaknesses pertaining to college readiness.
Prepares students for taking the SAT.
Juniors who score well may qualify for National Merit Recognition and Scholarships.
It provides valuable information to parents and students on student potential for advanced academics in high school.
What Should Students Bring on Test Day?
School issued Chromebook (make sure it is charged!!) Your device should be able to hold a charge for 3โ4 hours.
A pen or pencil for scratch work (No. 2 pencil not required)
Student ID
College Board approved calculator. Thereโs a graphing calculator built into the app, but you can bring your own if you like. If a student needs a hand-held calculator, please contact your childโs school counselor.
Score Reports will be available electronically to students in their College Board account 4-6 weeks after the test.
