The Wayne-Westland Wrap Up - February 8, 2024
Greetings Wayne-Westland Families,
It is hard to believe that we are now more than halfway through the 2023-24 school year. Among other accomplishments, this school year, we had the grand opening of a new STEM Center and the expansion of additional high school programming at the William D. Ford Career Tech Center. We have new resources focused on student wellness, including a new school-based health center at John Glenn High School. We now have two health centers in the district that are available for our students.
We have received honors at state and national levels for our dedication to excellence and have invested in teaching and learning initiatives across disciplines as we work together to inspire remarkable achievement. We are confident the second half of the school year will have the same energy and success.
We have many exciting events and activities coming up for our students. To stay informed and engaged, please read this newsletter, follow us on social media, and regularly visit our website.
Sincerely,
John Dignan, Ed.D.

Wayne-Westland Dives into Underwater Robotics with Square One Partnership
Wayne-Westland Community Schools hosted Square One for an innovative professional development workshop at the Wayne-Westland STEM Center. Teachers from across the district and neighboring districts dove into underwater robotics, learning to design and construct ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) capable of completing various tasks underwater.
This hands-on workshop equips educators with practical skills and knowledge, empowering them to integrate cutting-edge STEM concepts into their classrooms. After building and testing their prototypes, teachers will return to their schools with both newfound expertise and tangible resources to inspire students of robotics.
Watch their success in this video.
