Magyar's Message Dec. 15, 2023
-From The Desk of the Superintendent-
Dear ALCS families,
Winter Break is here!
It has truly been an exciting and joyous time in our district. I hope many of you had the chance to take in a holiday concert, volunteer at a class party, see the festive decorations on display throughout our buildings, or just see the excitement on our staff and students’ faces as they prepared for the holiday season.
Each of us will celebrate the holidays in our own way. It’s not only a time of giving and sharing, but it’s also the perfect time to appreciate and celebrate the great things we have accomplished. The greatest gift you will receive this holiday season is the presence of your loved ones. Take the time to make memories and enjoy spending quality time together.
The district's holiday card designs shown below were created by three students at Redwood: Jameson Miller, Mallory Maurer, and Gillian Pollack. Great job! Thank you Diane Chernisky, art teacher at Redwood and Westview elementary schools for helping the students spread holiday cheer.
As we enter 2024, I look forward to continued collaboration with our Board of Education, staff, students, volunteers and community members as we continue to move our district forward. Thank you all for your countless hours of dedication and support.
Congratulations to our third-grade students and teachers. We recently received the Fall OST Third-Grade test results and they are among the highest they have been in recent years. This is a testament to our dedicated team and our students who continue to thrive in the classroom. We look forward to continued growth.
A few items in the works for the New Year include engaging our school community in a new Strategic Vision for our district and formulating “A Portrait of an Avon Lake Graduate.” We will provide updates on the process and when we will begin focus groups and other planning initiatives in the coming weeks/months.
Our district will transition to using the BoardDocs online platform for our Board of Education agendas and document storage. Once our staff completes the necessary training on the new system, we hope to be up and running in February. We also will begin audio recording our Board of Education meetings in February.
As you can see, we already have several amazing things planned. I can’t wait to see what else we can accomplish together in 2024. Thank you for your continued support of our schools. I wish all of you a magical holiday season and a Happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Joelle Magyar
