Butler Community Reminders
Creating a Safe School Community
At the Butler, the safety, health, and well-being of our students are top priorities. A successful school community is built on collaboration, with students, staff, and families working together to create a positive and supportive environment.
Students thrive when they feel safe and when routines are clear and consistent. We ask for your partnership in reinforcing healthy habits, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting school policies that ensure the well-being of all students.
Together, we can make our school a place where every child feels secure, valued, and ready to learn. Thank you for being an essential part of our school community!
Attendance Reminder
Ensuring students arrive on time and attend school regularly is essential for their academic success. Students must be in their homeroom by 8:16 AM to avoid being marked tardy and must obtain a tardy slip from the office if they arrive late. If a student is absent, a doctor’s note or a written note from a parent should be submitted to the main office immediately.
For extended absences, a doctor's note is required after three or more consecutive days. If a student accumulates five or more unexcused absences, a letter will be sent home, and a social worker or attendance officer may conduct a home visit. Exceeding 16 unexcused absences may result in summer school or grade retention. Additionally, any student arriving after 11:30 AM will be marked absent for the day, even with a doctor’s note.
For early dismissals, parents are asked to avoid picking up students after 2:30 PM unless the school is notified before 11:30 AM. Your cooperation helps maintain a structured and productive learning environment for all students.
Healthy Eating Habits
Technology & Dress Expectations
AirPods & Headphones: Students may use AirPods, earbuds, or headphones before school and after leaving the building. However, all devices must be put away by 8:00 AM. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Cell Phones: Students are not allowed to access their phones during the school day. Phones are collected by homeroom teachers at 8:00 AM, securely stored, and returned at 2:50 PM. If a student is found with their phone, they will receive a detention. In emergencies, students may use the office phone. We ask families to trust the school to manage student safety and communication during the day.
Dress Code: Students should dress in a way that supports a positive and respectful learning environment. Clothing should cover private areas, and attire such as ripped jeans exposing the buttocks or upper inner seam, crop tops, rolling sneakers, or backless slide sandals are not permitted. Hoods should not be worn indoors, except for medical reasons. Clothing with vulgar language or images is also prohibited.
