Dear 5th and 6th Grade Parents,
Our music program is coming up soon! Parents are often asking what goes on in music class and this is a great way to share all that students have learned so far this year. They are so excited to perform for you.
Our program is titled “Award Winning Music” and will feature songs that have won Grammys, Golden Globes, and more! The program will be Monday, December 20th at 6:00pm at Westside Middle School. All 5th and 6th graders are asked to attend. I have told the students that this is like our “big tournament” for music this year and that it is important that they participate as a member of our team.
Students should arrive at the middle school at 5:45 so we can get onto the risers. The program will start promptly at 6:00pm and will be finished around 6:30. After the program, students and guests will need to exit the building - the Rockbrook music program will immediately follow, and we need to allow time for them to get in and on the stage. Thank you in advance for your understanding with this.
As a reminder, per district guidelines, all in attendance (students and guests) must be wearing a mask in the building. Please make sure your child has a mask with them when they arrive.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at henecke.madeline@westside66.net
See you then!

EY News
NSCAS Growth
The state of Nebraska is moving to a new through-year assessment model to replace the traditional NSCAS tests students have previously taken in the spring. This new model, NSCAS Growth, incorporates elements of MAP Growth and NSCAS Summative. In Westside Community Schools, students in grades 6 through 8 will participate in a pilot of this new model between December 6 and 17. Prairie Lane sixth graders will be assessed in math only on December 14th and 16th. The scores from these tests will not be used to make high-stakes decisions about your student’s instructional programming, and because it is a pilot, students who are absent on test day or are unable to finish the test in the allotted time may not receive a score.

Holiday Assistance
It’s hard to believe but the holiday season is right around the corner. As part of the Westside Community Schools family, we are fortunate to have some groups and organizations that are generous in many ways, especially when it comes to helping children.
Each year, several churches in the community, community service clubs and individual donors offer to help students whose families may be experiencing some temporary financial setbacks due to the tough economic times. These groups often donate a food basket, clothing and/or gifts. These items are meant to assist you in what you are already providing for your family.
If your family is not receiving assistance from other organizations, we are here to provide support. If you need assistance during the holiday season, please contact Miss Morrissey at morrissey.meghan@westside66.net.
