Women's History Month March 2023
Stratford STEM Magnet School Library
The 2023 theme for Women's History Month is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”
Why do we recognize Women's History Month?
Women’s History Month is a time to honor ordinary and extraordinary women, explore women’s achievements and struggles throughout history, and acknowledge women’s contributions to our society. This year's theme is about storytelling and recognizes women, past and present, who have been active in all media and storytelling, including print, radio, TV, stage, screen, blogs, podcasts, and more.
Women have passed on our heritage in word and print to communicate the lessons of those who came before us. From the earliest storytellers through pioneering journalists, women's experiences have been captured by various artists and teachers. These include authors, songwriters, scholars, playwrights, performers, and grandmothers throughout time. Women’s stories, and the larger human story, expand our understanding and strengthen our connections with each other.
Like Black History, Women's History should be part of learning all year long. Hopefully these ideas will help you recognize the story you are creating now that will be history in the future/
