Hi Bobcats! This week we have begun our process of teacher interviews and continue our planning for the 24-25 school year. There are so many amazing things happening at Buffett Middle and we want to ensure we maintain "high performing teachers and students in every classroom."

Speaking of high performing, did you know that this week is "National School Counseling Week." This week is a time to focus attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within our school. Our counselors have a tremendous impact in helping students achieve school success and plan for their futures.

THANK YOU to Ms. Janata, Ms. Lewandowski, Mr. Knihal, Ms. Johnston, and Ms. Johnson for ALL do for our students, staff, and community. We appreciate you!

We are so proud of our Quiz Bowl team! They finished in the top 8 at the competition at the end of January. It's a great day to be a Bobcat!

6th grade students from Ms. Baddley's general music class shared their ukulele skills and thoughts about learning to play during an interview with district communications. Check out their amazing interview!

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Science Fair this year. Your hard work showed at the fair. A special shout out to the students in the pictures below for their award winning projects!

Congratulations to our Varsity Wrestling team as they brought home the runner-up trophy from the McMillan Invite. The team had 11 wrestlers make the finals with 7 champions. It was a complete team effort but a special shout out to these 7 tournament champions.

Congratulations to our All-City performers! They showcases their musical talents at the Holland Performing Art Center last weekend.

Luke was ONE of only a few OPS students who made All State Jazz Band (Alto Saxophone). Please congratulate Luke B. for his hard work and success in making the NSBA Nebraska All State Band! Only 3 Alto Saxophones were chosen out of hundreds of auditions for the highest recognition given to Middle school performers in the state.

We are very proud of Hadley H., who competed at the district spelling bee! She made it through written and oral rounds to make it to the final two. Hadley is the district's runner-up this year! Congratulations, Hadley!

This week in Bobcat Den students took time to review their grades, record their missing assignments, and email teachers if they had any questions. This was part of the self-advocating lesson.

Bobcat Den students watched a TED video on how a positive outlook can influence well-being. Then the students did a journal activity or had a class discussion about how having a positive outlook can help them in different situations.

After School Library: The library is open for students every Tues., Wed., and Thurs. throughout the rest of the school year. Go there to complete homework, read, or work on school projects.

Hey Buffett Parents! Come out for a fun, family-friendly night at Buffett Middle to see our play, No Body to Murder! Come see 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students tell the story of a group of zany guests hunting down an escaped convict hiding among them. Showings are on February 29th and March 1st at 7pm! Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children with tickets sold at the door.
