MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL

This past week we celebrated Administrative Professionals' Day. We would like to acknowledge the fantastic work that Ms. Sooley does at our school taking care of the students, staff and community members. We really want to thank Ms. Sooley for all her hard work and dedication.

We also wanted to recognize all the staff/student/family/community volunteers that help our school through the breakfast program, through coaching, guest speakers, our School Council and in numerous other areas. Your time and efforts make a real difference in our students lives and the St. Kevin's Junior High Community as a whole.

REQUESTS FOR NEXT YEAR

The task of creating learning groups is a challenging one. When teachers compile class lists, they place much effort into creating balanced groups that enable all students to learn to their full potential. It is a huge task which takes a lot of time. Each child's placement in a class is done with much consideration. Due to the many factors that are involved in creating those groups, we are unable to accommodate requests for students to be with specific friends or teachers next year.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

CBC KIDS NEWS

This month was a really exciting month for Ms. Carew's class as they were chosen from a national contest to create and record a news story for CBC Kids News!

They had so much fun and the final story was awesome!

WATCH - This N.L. class tried virtual reality. Here's what happened | CBC Kids News

When CBC Kids News asked a group of Grade 6 students at St. Kevin's Junior High in Goulds, Newfoundland, to choose a news story to investigate, they had two ideas: Local ghost stories and Gorilla Tag. We decided to revisit the ghost idea in October ... But what's this business about Gorilla Tag?

JEOPARDY, WITH YOUR HOST, MR. LODGE

We all think Mr. Lodge could have given Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik a run for their money in becoming the next host of Jeopardy!

We all know, though, the 7-3 Math Class thought it was lots of fun!

CREATIVE ART STUDENTS

Two of our Grade 8 students, with the guidance of Ms. Critch, are leaving SKJH with a beautiful Mural for our students to enjoy in the Learning Commons for years to come!

Great job Charlotte and Meredith!

AN AFTERNOON OF FUN

On our last day before Easter Holidays, we had all of our students spend some time getting to know each other and playing games all around the school. We paired a grade six, a grade seven and a grade eight class together for the afternoon of fun and games.

It was a great idea and a huge success! Thankyou to Ms. Carew, Ms. O'Reilly and the SKJH Leadership Team for putting this together!
