Happy October!
Health and Safety Reminder
Don’t let the lingering summer sunshine fool you - cold and flu season is here! Many symptoms of colds and flu are shared with COVID, and sometimes it takes two or more home tests for COVID to register. The best course of action is to stay home if you are not feeling well and do not return until you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the aid of medication (if applicable) and other symptoms are improving. Free COVID test kits are available from your school’s front office. Have questions? Contact our COVID Resource team at 503-844-1784.
Library-Your Story Matters!-Kindergarten-10/19 from 4:00-5:00 pm
Libraries are the heart of any community. We would like to invite you into the heart of our community, our Rosedale library. We are excited to offer our Rosedale families an opportunity to enjoy time together in the library. It will be a chance to connect with other families and staff while enjoying book talks and read alouds for the whole family.
Book Fun:
Each family will receive a free book, a snack, and a prize to take home. They will also have an opportunity to listen to the story. Afterward, you can enjoy the library together. Your student can enter a raffle at the event they attend. Please be aware that an adult must attend with the
student and if siblings attend they must be under the supervision of their adult. We are excited to open the Rosedale library to our community to spread the love of reading! Please join us
on the date that corresponds to your grade level.

Lion's Den - Wellness Center
Hello Rosedale Families!
My name is Alice Scholerman and I work in the Wellness Center here at Rosedale.
We call it The Lion’s Den. The Lion’s Den is a space designed to allow students to improve and focus on their social emotional regulation, as well as mindfulness throughout the day using the Zones of Regulation curriculum and focusing on the CASEL 5 competencies. The culture of the space also promotes self-advocacy and community building, as students learn to work with and around one another in a way that benefits everyone.
Students who come to see me are able to practice specific skills that will help them succeed both in and out of an academic setting. These skills include frustration management, self-regulation, mindfulness, and safe movement strategies. The visits are about 15 minutes long depending on the lesson being taught that day. The goal is that the strategies taught can be transferred back into their classroom and/or home environment to help with self-management and self-regulation skills.
All students at Rosedale will have the opportunity to access the Wellness Center several times throughout the year. I also get to be in their classroom on Wednesdays for whole group wellness lessons.
I wanted to introduce myself and let you all know what the Wellness Center is about and how I aim to help our kiddos thrive. I am honored to work with our amazing students everyday, and am grateful to be a part of the Rosedale community. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or your classroom teacher.
