Principal Kionna's Weekly Word
Dear Trix Families,
We Are Back in Action
Last week we had some not-so-great weather, but we managed to open Thursday and Friday. We are happy to welcome everyone back tomorrow! We will commence NWEA testing. Please be sure that your scholar is in attendance all week long!
NWEA Testing
NWEA testing will take place all of this week to make up for the lost days last week.
Academic Focus
This half of the school year we have some new focuses, so be sure to ask you scholar(s) about the following:
- Focusing on math facts - trivia, flashcards, games and competitions
- Focusing on academic vocabulary - those words that scholars see on assessments like NWEA and MStep
- Focusing on spending more time completing Zearn lessons - the computer program that is directly connected to the math curriculum, Eureka Math
- Focusing on spending more time completing MyPath lessons - the computer program that is directly connected to NWEA which provides practice on reading and language skills
- Focusing on using R.A.C.E to answer all questions - R.A.C.E stands for: Restate the question, Answer the Question, Cite your evidence, and Explain your answer.
All of these focuses are things that you can do with your scholar(s) at home. Please reach out to your child's teacher for more information.
Attendance
In addition to our academic focus, we will be focusing heavily on attendance of all scholars. In order for us to prepare scholars for their futures, they have to be in school everyday.
The attendance incentive program will start this week! Please be sure that your scholar is in attendance Monday through Friday to be eligible for the weekly incentive. See details below.

Ms. Orpe's Curriculum Corner
Assistant Principal
Hello Trix Academy Families,
It is a great time to help your scholars kick off the New Year by focusing on academic growth and a strong school mindset. Here is some helpful information for you and your scholars.
Trix Academy has two, high-leverage skill building programs that provide targeted instruction based on your scholar’s needs. For English intervention activities we use Imagine MyPath https://api.imaginelearning.com/. MyPath is linked with your child’s NWEA tests and is updated after every exam to provide robust practice in ELA. For targeted Math intervention we use Zearn https://www.zearn.org/ which is linked with our Trix Academy curriculum, Eureka Math.
Please have your child login to these programs at home and show you their progress! We are proud of the growth our scholar’s achieved last year, and can not wait to see the 2023-2024 scores! Reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions about the programs or login information.
Thank you for all you do!

Attendance
Attendance is a huge part of your scholars academic success. Making sure they are in school daily is very important. When they are absent, they miss valuable information and will potentially fall behind.
Parents, if your scholar has reached a certain number of absences, please expect a phone call from me, Ms. Hayes to schedule a mandatory parent meeting. If I have already called you, please respond with one of the scheduled meeting days you would like to meet. I have made several calls to parents and I am awaiting responses. I will continue to call until a meeting is scheduled.
Thank you,
Ms. Hayes
