Please help us get to know your child! Please submit a kindergarten skills checklist for your child to the Hilltop Elementary Office to give us insight into your child's strengths and needs. We have a locked drop box outside the office door that can be accessed 24 hours a day or you can email the form to us at Hilltop_office@edmonds.wednet.edu.

These appointments often fill up fast during summer. Student vaccines must be up-to-date to start kindergarten. If vaccinations are missing, then students may not begin the school year until they are completed or formally waived with the required paperwork.

If you would like to give input on the type of learning environment that best supports your child, then you can submit this form: Student Placement Family Input. Requests for specific teachers are not considered, however, we will consider your comments about teaching styles that you feel best matches your child's needs. Your comments will be shared with the placement team.

We love to have summer Kindergarten Playdates for our incoming Kindergarteners and their families. This is a great way to meet other Hilltop families.

The Before School Kindergarten Parent and Guardian Meetings will be Thursday, August 22nd. Please select one time to attend. At this meeting, Principal Somoza will go over details about the start of the school year for Kindergarten. We will share information about arrival, dismissal, and the school schedule. There will be time, after the meeting, to ask questions.

There are two sessions to choose from on August 22nd:

We are sad to announced that there is no Jump Start program this year in the the Edmonds School District. This is due to budget cuts. Please join us at other family events to help your child get use to Hilltop Elementary.

Families will be asked to sign up for a thirty minute Family Connection Meeting on September 4, 5 and 6th. Directions for how to sign up will be sent to you in the August 22nd email that communicates who your child's teacher will be. Family Connection Meetings give you and your child a chance to see the classroom together, learn what to expect for the school year, and share information about your family with your child's teacher.

We ask that families purchase the following kindergarten school supplies for your child, if it does not provide financial stress. We are happy to provide supplies for your child if there is a financial need. Please bring supplies to your Family Connection Meeting which will be scheduled for the first week of September. A link to schedule these meetings will be sent to registered families on August 22nd.

Help your student learn and play in a group environment! Free summer meals and camps run July 1 - August 22 for children ages 5 - 18 to come enjoy free meals and activities. The camps run for three hours and take place Monday through Thursday at three locations.

If you child will be 5 years old by August 31, 2024, they will be eligible for Kindergarten this September. If you have any questions about your child's readiness, feel free to call and discuss with Principal Somoza or our office staff.

Check your address with the Neighborhood School Finder to find out what is your assigned school. Hilltop Elementary is only open to students in our assigned service area for the 2024-25 school year. Information about other schools and programs in our district, including Spanish dual language, will be updated soon on the Edmonds School District's Kindergarten Info page.

There are two ways to register: online or via paper forms. Both options are available in multiple languages. For planning purposes, we encourage you to register as soon as possible. Paper forms are available in the school office in many languages.
