Music in Our Schools Month
March is Music in Our Schools Month! This month, we acknowledge the important part music plays in our lives, how it can impact all of us in different ways, and the role it plays in our school community. Parents, administrators, and the wider community often only see the wonderful results of our music concerts; however, we miss the months of practice and rehearsals and more importantly the learning process that takes place to make it all happen.
In every school across Coatesville, music teachers dedicate themselves to providing excellent music education to all students. At Rainbow, our 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to be part of our amazing Band, Orchestra, and Chorus. To hear our very talented musicians in person, please come to our Spring Band, Orchestra, and Chorus concert on Tuesday, May 14th, at Rainbow at 7:00 pm!

Getting Ready for PSSA Grades 3-5
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires all school districts to administer the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) in English language arts, mathematics, and science. The dates of the testing windows established by the PA Department of Education (PDE) are listed here so that you are aware of the upcoming testing.
- English Language Arts – April 22-April 26 (grades 3 - 5)
- Math – April 29-April 30 (grades 3 - 5)
- Science - May 1 and May 2 (grade 4 only)
While assessment scores represent a snapshot in time of student performance and should not be considered the sole indicator of student achievement, your students participation in testing is important. Data obtained from each assessment serves as one of the tools for planning school programs, designing curriculum and instruction, and providing information to the public.
