C Week Rotation
Hello Hawk families,
We concluded another successful week at Hoover Middle School. This was an extra special week because of the meaningful assignments we accomplished, and the events coming up. Check it out!
Administration
1. Open House and Algebra Night– Attend our Open House on Wednesday, August 30, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. This will be a great opportunity to meet our teachers and staff. Algebra Night needs to be attended only by 7th and 8th graders currently taking Algebra 1 or Algebra 1 Honors. Algebra Night will begin at 5:30 pm in the Media Center.
2. Picture Day – Friday, September 1, 2023. Mark your calendars!
3. Appointments with our school counselor, Mrs. Earle – Please use the following link to make appointment with Mrs. Earle Appointments with Counselor.
4. Appointments available with Mrs. Foley – Mrs. Foley, picture below, is a licensed mental health counselor who is available to meet with Hoover students twice a week. Mrs. Foley will attend our Open House, so make sure you stop by the Media Center to meet her. In the meantime, here is her contact information: foley.diane@brevardschools.org

· Accelerated Reader Home Connect: Your student(s) uses a program called Renaissance Accelerated Reader at school. Accelerated Reader Home Connect allows you to view information about your student(s)’ progress, and to receive email notifications after they complete an activity or assessment at school. PTO
Thank you to all the families who participated in our Dine and Donate fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse!
1. PTO banner fundraiser deadline is September 1st. If you are still interested in having your family and/or business logo represented in the gymnasium, please send in your donations by then. Please find PDF for donations below.
2. First PTO Meeting: Tuesday, September 12th at 8:30am in the Media Center. We hope to see you there.
Clubs and Organizations
1. Hoover Maker Club: Hoover’s Maker Club will have the first meeting on Wednesday, September 20th at 8:30 am in the media center. Students do not need to apply, but they do need to complete a parent/guardian permission form to participate. The MakerSpace is a creative, do-it-yourself space where students can gather to create, invent, and learn. Our school’s makerspace includes: 3D printers, electronics/circuits kits, craft supplies, Promethean board, Ozobots, Makey Makey, Ollies, Sphero, Finch robot 2.0, LEGOS, Duino kits, Meccanoid, Bloxels, Cubelets, K’NEX, paper machines, Google Goggles/VR, audio and video production, and publishing. Everyone is welcome!!

2. First Priority Club meets every Tuesday at 8:30 am, in room A-1. First Priority is a faith based club that meets to enjoy fellowship, share a Christian message and play fun games. Only requirement is a parental form signed. A copy of the form is provided below. For more information, contact Mrs. Sadowski at: Sadowski.brenda@brevardschools.org
3. L3 Harris Stem Challenge: First informational meeting on September 29, at 3:00 pm, in Ms. Earnst classroom (B-15). L3 Harris Stem Challenge is a club for students who are interested in participating in STEM-like challenges, including coding, 3D printing, breakout challenges and problem solving. Members will participate in challenges against other BPS schools in April. Only requirement is to bring a signed parental permission form. Form is provided below. Hawk Mentoring Program
The Hawk Mentoring Program held their first training session on Wednesday, August 23. We had about 20 mentors attend the training, some returning mentors and new ones. If you are interested in mentoring students, please reach out to Mrs. Gilbert at gilbert.christina@brevardschools.org or Ms. Ralphs at ralphs.rachel@brevardschools.org. We have another training session schedule in a week, so there is still time to join our team! Please enjoy our pictures below!

Hawk Mentor Leaders
Our amazing Hawk Mentoring Program leaders are Ms. Ralphs, far left and Mrs. Gilbert, far right. They were joined by Mrs. Stacy Naff , who trained our school mentors. She will be back at Hoover in a week, to prepare another set of mentors!
