Why is Maintaining a 2.0 GPA so Important?
Did you know that in order to be eligible for Sports & Graduation that students must maintain a 2.0 GPA (C Average). Failure to do so means they forfeit eligibility for at least one semester for Athletics.
Students also must show proficiency this year on their ALG 1 Assessment, as this is a graduation requirement. If your child was a Level 1 student on the 8th Grade Math Assessment, ask their current teacher for info on how to access IXL to improve math skills!
Information on current Graduation Requirements can be found here: https://www.fldoe.org/schools/k-12-public-schools/sss/graduation-requirements/
9th Grade Q1 Presentations
Throughout the next week, Ms. Maertin the 9th Grade Counselor will be conducting presentations with students through their ELA class. She will be discussing Bright Futures, College Plans, Dual Enrollment, and assisting students in how to calculate their GPA and set goals for Q2 Grades in order to maintain a "C" or Above Average.
Attendance and Graduation Success!
Many studies have tied attendance issues to risk of being a high school dropout!
Anclote High School has 92 Freshman who have missed 5 or more school days in the 23-24 School Year. These students are on pace for 20+ absences! This means 20 days of missed of Math & ELA instruction, that can negatively impact their success on state assessments!
Encourage your child to: Go to bed early, get involved, and ask for help, and BE PRESENT!
Cell Phones & Impact on Academic Performance
Please continue to support us in keeping students off cell phones & engaged in the classroom. We have seen a decrease in Q1 Failures and higher scores across the board on all baseline testing for English & Mathematics! Students on cell phones in the classroom means more distractions, incidents of bullying, students not paying attention, and poor performance.
Want to Get Involved?
Anclote High is currently looking to expand our parent involvement opportunities and wants your input.
Please take out Parent Involvement Survey to let us know what opportunities you’re interested in!
