School Bus Safety Awareness
Transporting students safely is always the most important issue to those of us in school bus
transportation. We believe that knowing what to do in the case of an emergency is critical to the student’s safety. Just as students practice fire drills in the school buildings, the students should also practice evacuation drills on our school buses.
This is important knowledge that every school bus rider should have in the case of an emergency.
With the consent of the Principal and the assistance of staff, your driver will be conducting front door emergency evacuation drills on school property the week of April 24 th , 2023. Of course, we will take every precaution to ensure your child’s safety.
Emergency evacuation drills will take place at Moraine on Monday, April 24th. Please see the letter below from Durham School Services for more information.
Moraine Beautification - Adopt-A-Pot
Happy Spring!
Moraine has six planters in front of the school and one can be yours for the summer!
Here's how Adopt-A-Pot works:
For a donation of $20, you will be funding one of the planters AND you get to take a beautiful pot home for the summer. Your pot/s will be available for you to pick up at the last day of school for you to water and care for over the summer, returning them right before school starts so our school looks beautiful on the first day!
Thank you for keeping our school beautiful!
Contact Janelle Justin at 586-489-4163 to Adopt-A-Pot! First come first serve!
STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK IS COMING!
Dear Moraine Families,
The Staff Appreciation Committee would like to thank you for your support of the luncheons that were provided during the spring parent/teacher conferences. As always, the staff enjoyed being treated to lunch on their long days of conferences.
Currently, we are preparing for Staff Appreciation Week, which is May 8-12. This is our largest event that celebrates the wonderful staff at Moraine. The theme this year is World of Difference to acknowledge the impact the staff have on our Penguins. There will be events each day that week as well as a raffle to (hopefully) provide a local restaurant gift card to each staff member. There will also be suggested activities for students to participate in throughout the week. More information on that to follow.
Please click on the link below to donate. We would like to receive all donations by Friday, April 28th. If your donation includes a gift card, please leave it with a staff member in the office.

MR. DICKEN AND MS. SALAH REQUEST YOUR HELP FOR FIELD DAY!
Hello Moraine Families!
Mr. Dicken and Ms. Salah have decided to bring back Field Day to Moraine, but they need our help! Our teachers are looking for two parents to help co-chair the event on Wednesday, June 7. One Lower Elementary volunteer to help in the afternoon and an Upper Elementary volunteer to help in the morning.
The job consists of communicating with parent volunteers, help with setup, and monitor Sign-Up Genius for volunteers, and helping coordinate with whatever our teachers need from the PTA.
If you are interested or have further questions, please contact Mr. Dicken at dickench@northvilleschools.org. Thank you for the consideration!

Calling all Moraine Parents!
Help our Fun Fair Committee Raise Funds for Moraine
This year, we are hoping to offset the rising costs for our Fun Fair. If we are able to do so, we won’t need to relay those costs to our families in the form of rising wrist band costs. Any extra funds raised will also help the PTA bring more fun to Moraine next year!
We are asking parents to ask your their of business if they would be willing to sponsor this year’s Fun Fair. We have attached our sponsorship letter for your convenience.
For any questions, please contact Laurie Bohdan at funfairmoraine@gmail.com
The PTA Needs Your Help For The 2023-2024 School Year
Grab a buddy and join the PTA next year in planning and executing school events for our staff and students!
Does work not allow you to volunteer your time? Have one million and one things going on? No problem! Not all of our committees require tons of time and sometimes, an item donation may be all we need!
New volunteers will have access to the previous year’s documents via DropBox. Previous volunteers and your EBoard are also here to help - you will not do this alone!
To Sign up as a committee volunteer or miscellaneous volunteer, click here.
To learn more about what each committee does, visit our PTA website here.
Kindergarten Enrollment for 2023-24 School Year is now OPEN!
If you have any questions, please call Student Data at (248) 344-3524.
Parent Coffee Talks
The Parent Lighthouse Team is planning to host a “Parent Coffee Talk” once a month. Every month we will meet to discuss each of the “7 Habits of Highly Effective Families”. You do not need to have attended the parent workshop in October to join us for these informal “Parent Coffee Talks”.
The schedule is as follows:
May 18 – Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
These meetings will take place in Room 311 at Old Village School (405 Main Street in Northville) from 9:00-10:30 AM (except on January 19). Parking is behind Old Village School next to the library. Light refreshments are provided. Please bring something to drink and join us as we have fun discussing how to successfully (and at times unsuccessfully) implement the 7 Habits at home.
Please contact either one of us with questions:
Mindy Eichenberg (meichenberg@msn.com) or
Jami Knapp (jamiknapp@gmail.com).
