Message from the Principal
Good Afternoon Findley Families,
In case you missed my message last Friday, let me say again what a treat it was to see folks on our parade route. Words cannot express how much that meant to me. Findley families are the BEST! I miss you all so incredibly much. Even just seeing your faces for a few moments as we drove by will get me through the next few weeks. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Hopefully, by now you are getting into a routine with on-line learning. Seeing what kids and families are doing and the creativity and excitement kids are using to demonstrate their learning is inspiring. Keep up the great work! As a reminder, students should be accessing two SeeSaw classrooms per day. One for their general classroom and one for Specials and Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Our specials teachers, counselor and Student Success Coach will be posting their lessons daily in the Specials Classroom, and we wouldn’t want you to miss out on their activities. If you are having trouble figuring out how to navigate between the two virtual classrooms, here are some step by step directions.
Lastly, by now you have likely received and reviewed the letter from Ginny Hansmann, Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning about our Primary Years Programme (PYP). Although the news was likely not a surprise, in lieu of budget cuts and the district’s desire to provide equitable experiences for students across the district, it is nonetheless disappointing and frustrating. I want you to know that I believe in this staff. The characteristics and elements that PYP brought to our school naturally, will not disappear completely. With our district curriculum, state learning targets and focus on the social, emotional and academics on each child, inquiry will remain at the forefront of everything we do. I look forward to working with the staff to continue to provide the best educational opportunities for each of our students here at Findley.
As we look toward the end of the school year, we will be sending updates on obtaining student belongings. Likely this will happen in waves towards the second half of May. Stay tuned.
Sincerely,
Sherry Marsh, Ed.D.
From Counseling & SEL
Hi Parents,
We found this graphic and thought it was a great way to look at how to find balance and help our children work through the ups and downs of the day each week. One of the most important parts to this wheel is Supportive Relationships. This can be through school activities like Zoom Community Circles and small group interactions with teachers & classmates or in your home with family dinners, walks & bike rides, building a reading fort, calling relatives or friends, teaching your child how to do something new, or family game night; whatever your family does to connect and help one another. This is what’s most important.
If you need support in helping your child please reach out to us at FIndley. We are here to help.
