Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families- Welcome to the weekend people! If I sound excited--I am, because I don’t have anything planned! It’s been a fun and active week. We’ve celebrated our staff this week, including Principal, Teacher, and Lunch Heroes Appreciation Days!
A huge thank you to our Ridgeline Boosters who hosted a food truck luncheon for all staff on Thursday—what a treat! The delicious food was provided by Big Daddy’s Bahn Mi.
Other student celebrations recently included state music finalists, Honor Society inductees, and ALL spring sports have individual or team representation in the post season!
This week has been a little extra intense for students taking AP exams. The will continue through next week. Sometime, when we have more time, I think we should dig into what it’s like behind the scenes of AP testing and the College Board. It’s an interesting world.
REMINDER: CVSD Policy states that all high school campuses are closed during the day, including lunch. What that means is students should not leave or be in their cars in the parking lot during the day. Parent help with your student is appreciated.
Thank you to the City Of Liberty Lake and city engineer, Phil Messick, for coordinating the ‘gifted’ Ridgeline HS signage I’m holding in today’s featured pic. Originally, this was mounted on the stop lights at our main entrance. Due to some issue with our 911 emergency service, it had to be taken down. We’ll find it a new home in our building!
Don’t forget, the Senior Prom is coming up quickly. I encourage all seniors to attend if at all possible. It’s a great way to cap off your senior year together. Seniors only--date can be an underclassmen, or out of building guest.
It finally happened—the Wizard of Oz opened last night to a full house and received rave reviews! Since I’m not an actor, I really appreciate how our students transform themselves into character, while at the same time, maintaining pieces of their own real personality. Come check it out!
And…stay informed—read the Flyer! Make it a great weekend! –Mr. Hardt

Have a Budding Journalists?
Is your student interested in someday joining the ranks of those who do the hard but necessary work of keeping the rest of us well-informed? If your answer to that question is "yes" the Spokesman Review might have the optimal opportunity!
The Teen Journalism Institute is literally a one-of-a-kind opportunity, offering 16-18 year-old high school students the chance to become paid interns (only US newspaper that offers this), working alongside established journalists in our region. This summer program begins June 26, and will run for eight weeks. The application is now open and is due June 9 (though, notably, the Spokesman will offer early applications preference).
For more information, please access this link!
Washington Business Week Registration Now Open!
Washington Business week offers 14-18 year-old high school students opportunities to participate in programs (virtual and in-person) that teach the fundamentals of business while offering valuable job skills. There is a cost to the program, but financial aid is available and no student will be denied access to these programs due to cost. If your student is interested, s/he may speak to Ms. Demarest and access the attached program and tuition assistance links.
KSPS Media Makers Program Application Now Open!
Open primarily to rising high school seniors (Class of 2024), the KSPS Media Makers program offers students the chance to work on documentaries, feature news stories, sports, social media, and other media areas. The application is due Friday, May 12. To learn more, visit the following link!
Do you have a current junior preparing to apply to college next fall?
If your answer to the above question is “yes”, please save the date and plan to join Mr. Spraggins (bspraggins@cvsd.org) and Ms. McMurtrey (mmcmurtrey@cvsd.org) for a college exploration and admission session on Thursday, June 1, following the student/staff softball game. In addition to the college exploration and admission processes, we will be joined by the Gonzaga University Financial Aid Director, Sarah Everitt, who will outline the financial aid process (i.e. FAFSA filing, scholarship searches, and other financial aid topics). If you have questions, please contact Mr. Spraggins.
Coming Soon: The Jesuit Excellence Tour

If you and/or your students have questions, contact Mr. Spraggins (bspraggins@cvsd.org).
