SHARK SHOUT OUTS
- Congratulations to 8th grade students Remi Schreiner and Christopher Arriola-Franco on their nominations for Project 351. Project 351 is a statewide leadership program that celebrates one unsung hero from each of Massachusetts' 351 towns to participate in community service projects, mentorship, and leadership development over the next year. Stay tuned for how you can support Remi, Christopher, and our community through this initiative!
- Our superstar athlete, Gareth Vos (senior) has qualified to compete at the state level again this year in Cross Country! His next race is Saturday, November 18 at Devens. We wish him the best of luck! -Mrs. Casey
- From Mr. Brown
- Special thanks to Ms. Police and Mr. Sumner for allowing me to work with Mr. Sumner's students while he was on paternity leave. Clearly, his students are flourishing!
- Thanks to all who checked in with me about Aldona, who says 'hello to all of her old MRHS friends!'
- Congratulations to Ms. Flint and Mr. Anderson on their richly deserved awards!
- We're so proud of sophomore Jude McMahon who earned "First Runner Up" status at the annual Lions Club Speech Contest in Dennis. This year's topic was "What Historical Figure would you like to meet?" Jude wrote about his admiration for both Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X and shared the questions he would ask them about the racial issues of today. He wondered what advice they would give to help him navigate our divided world. - Mrs. Forte-Doyle

Thanks to NHS Advisor, Mary Hemeon, it was a beautiful ceremony! And special thanks to the Keynote Speaker, Carolyn Carey!
World Literature Classes!
Students in World Literature and Honors World Literature recently studied Dante as well as parts of the Inferno. Students were asked to create their own versions of Hell based on Dante's structure. This assignment always leads to critical thinking about the severity and ramifications of different crimes and how one should be punished. Students have to discuss and debate what crimes/sins are worse than others. The photos show the CP class looking over a few Hells and evaluating the decisions that went into those projects. Discussion followed the critiques with students defending/debating their own and their classmates' decisions.
Creative Writing II Class
Creative Writing II: Global Outlook had an End of Term Food Festival which celebrated foods from the cultures we studied in Term One: Italy, Japan, Sweden, Portugal, and Brazil. Students were told to try all the varied choices and then respond to two writing prompts in their journals. Many thanks to the following students for agreeing to make the delicious treats: Corinne Pina, Isabella Mercurio, Gabby Bassett, Graycen Cote, Julia Brown, and Gabe Simoes

OCTOBER SCHOLAR ATHLETES 2023
Lucy Bates - On the field junior Lucy Bates has been a starting defender for the girl's soccer team the last two years. A smart player, she loves to take her opportunities to go forward and connect with teammates. A tireless worker, she gives her best every game and practice and was voted captain by her teammates for her senior year. Off the field, Lucy has been on the High Honor roll every quarter since she began at the high school in eighth grade. She is a member of Key Club, National Honor Society, the National Chinese Honor Society and National Art Honor Society. - Coach Jenn Peterson
Paul Carlson - Paul Carlson is a quiet, composed goalkeeper who reads the game well. While being a solid and steady performer all season, earning Cape & Islands Maritime Division All-Star Honorable Mention, he has excelled in the postseason and is a key to our tournament run. He leads by example on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. His academic achievements of High Honor roll, AP Scholar Award, and Adams Award for MCAS show his quality in the classroom. Paul recently received his Eagle Scout Badge, an achievement that reflects his character and community contributions. Paul plans to continue his education after graduation in the spring by attending college in the New England area. He certainly has all of the characteristics of a deserving Scholar-Athlete.
