🗣 Conversation Coaxers 🗣
Tired of getting one word answers when asking your student how their day was? We know that talking to your middle school student about their day can be difficult so let us help! Once a day we will be sending a text via the Remind app with a question or conversation starter that you can use to talk to your teen. For example: What made you smile today? If you could change one thing about today, what would it be? Tell me something you know today that you didn't know yesterday.

🔷 Counselor’s Corner 🔷
The counseling office has many things going on this month along with enrolling several new students!
Our positive character trait of the month is RESPONSIBILITY which simply means “taking ownership of what we say and do”. We had a short lesson before our team building activities last week about how difficult it is for all of us to take ownership of things we say and do. Many people try to place blame on someone or something else to avoid getting in trouble. Taking responsibility for what we say and do helps us grow strong and build resiliency throughout life.
This week we have started our Missouri Connections program which begins in 6th grade and is used throughout high school. It is designed as a career exploration tool and builds from exploring our likes and dislikes to skills we have, planning our courses for high school and exploring careers and education/training options. Explore what your kids are doing by clicking here.
The nationwide initiative “Red Ribbon Week” is October 23-October 31. This teaches kids the dangers of drug abuse including illegal and prescription drugs, smoking, and vaping. Lessons help them learn how to make positive choices for their lives. If you’d like to learn more about this program, click here.
