Kindergarten Library Book Check-out
Every six days our Kindergarten students visit the library to check-out books. We hope that you will enjoy reading these books with your child and take care of them while they are in your possession.
Help take care of our library materials by remembering the following:
- Library books should be kept in your child's backpack when not being read.
- Please no eating or drinking while reading the books.
- No coloring or writing in the books.
- Return books to school every day.
Our PK students will begin book check-out at a later date.
Notes from the Nurse
Please make sure your child has at least one extra change of weather appropriate clothing at school. Accidents aren't only with toileting, but food spills and illness related causes.
We are heading into RSV and flu season. To decrease the risk of getting RSV or flu, you can do the following at home:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your arm.
- Avoid kissing and or shaking hands.
- Avoid sharing cups and/or food.
- Clean frequently used areas.
- Get your flu shot.
Lost and Found
With the colder temperatures just around the corner, don't forget to label your child's coats, jackets, or hats.
If your child is already missing an item, be sure to check the lost and found located inside the reception area of the school's main office.
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow - Our Attendance Goal is 94%
Last week our attendance at MECC was 92%
Did you know that in Texas, the state gives money to schools based on their students’ average daily attendance rate. If a student misses school, their district’s attendance average goes down, and so does the amount of funding it receives.
Remember, when a student is absent from school, the student must bring a note signed by the parent that describes the reason for the absence.

The Counseling Corner
Building social-emotional skills at home for early childhood students is of paramount importance as it lays the foundation for their lifelong emotional well-being and interpersonal relationships. These formative years are a critical period for children to develop skills like empathy, self-regulation, and effective communication, which are essential for success in school and later in life. Parents and caregivers play a pivotal role in fostering these skills by providing a safe and nurturing environment for children to express their emotions, learn how to manage them, and understand the feelings of others. By focusing on social-emotional development at home, children not only gain the tools they need to navigate the complexities of human interaction, but they also develop resilience and a strong sense of self, ultimately leading to healthier and more fulfilling lives as they grow and mature. Check out some of these home activities to build social emotional skills!
